  1. Don I don't believe JFK has gotten into the 30s either-- the lowest low I could find for them was 40 degrees.
  2. Yes and my heat turned on even though I have it set to 55 lol I don't believe any of the NYC airports or the park has gotten into the 30s have they?
  3. 80 degrees doesn't happen early in the morning unless it's super humid. The lows in the 50s were just fine and very comfy.
  4. My feet are sure feeling it and I don't like it one bit. I thought this kind of cold wasn't supposed to get here until next week? It reminds me of how surprisingly cold it was October 30th in the morning. The last week of October was supposed to be warm lol.
  5. Weird that so many have occurred recently, looks like the EPO block has become more extreme, which is why we didn't hear much about this kind of block prior to 2013. I know I had never heard of the EPO before then.
  6. Don and others, I hope you all got to see the splendid total lunar eclipse last night/this morning! The moon was low but I was able to follow most of the first half of totality....from 5:16 am to 5:45 am, before the moon got too low to see from here. And the sky brightened up after 5:50 am anyway so mid eclipse at 5:59 am wouldn't have been as great as the first part of totality was.
  7. any analogs as to what this kind of -EPO this time of the year would portend to for the winter, Chris?
  8. we'll all get at least an inch or two of rain regardless of the track though
  9. Wow-- just noticed this-- Westhampton KFOK 80 degrees, new monthly record (latest 80 on record) and beat their old record by 10 degrees?! If this had happened in July even they would have hit 100+!
  10. From 8 inches of snow to 80 degrees on the same day 10 years later! Freehold got 14" in that storm, I suspect they were even warmer than 80 today.
  11. It was a pleasure after all that yuck humidity. I opened all my windows to get rid of it all.
  12. 100 degrees and 25% humidity in the summer 30 degrees and 2 feet of snow every month in the winter. If it goes below 0 once every year I'm fine with that too. Just no wind please lol.
  13. That was a historic snow drought though.
  14. JFK missed their monthly record by one degree (81 on 11/1/50)....but I'm happy we got to 80. I still think that 95 on 10/2/18 was the greater anomaly. Someone please check that lol.
  15. Snow used to melt within a week? Now it melts in less than a day lol. We very rarely have those 15 degree days anymore. I'm fine with 25-30 degree days and snow.... you don't need 15 degrees to get a lot of snow. It's actually better when it's 25-30 degrees.
  16. Yes, especially with the amount of injuries that happen on turf. I hate that stuff.
  17. More likely it goes inland and it rains here though-- that's the most likely outcome with those kinds of storms.
  18. Yay I thought so! I'm going to tweet Lee Goldberg to correct him lol.
  19. If the whole summer was like this I'd love it-- just closer to 100 lol.
  20. My friend keeps sending these pictures-- you're not going to get many more people to believe in climate change until it stops snowing in all these places. This is Calgary.
  21. For whatever reason the people I know in Canada won't have any of it. My friend from Calgary keeps sending me pictures of all the snow they've been getting (3 feet already!) and keeps saying what climate change? lol
  22. I like hot and DRY in the summer, I hate humidity above all else. Winter should be snowy though.
  23. This is true, this is why it doesn't bother more people. It's why the ozone layer hole was more bothersome to more people. I think this is changing now with the younger generations though.
  24. I mean if it was this easy to go below normal, we would have hit -10 or lower several times every decade. I just look at the NYC Marathon and how it was in September until 1975 and then in October until 1985 and since then it's been in November and we still get similar temperatures. That's all you really need to know.
  25. It was 79 degrees for three consecutive hourly readings from 11:51 am through 1:51 pm I'm sure it reached 80 or even possibly 81 somewhere in there. https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/us/ny/new-york-city/KJFK/date/2022-11-7 10:51 AM 77 °F 58 °F 52 % W 16 mph 0 mph 30.15 in 0.0 in Fair 11:51 AM 79 °F 53 °F 40 % W 14 mph 22 mph 30.14 in 0.0 in Fair 12:51 PM 79 °F 52 °F 39 % W 13 mph 0 mph 30.13 in 0.0 in Fair 1:51 PM 79 °F 47 °F 32 % WNW 12 mph 0 mph 30.13 in 0.0 in Fair 2:51 PM 77 °F 42 °F 29 % NW 18 mph 0 mph 30.14 in 0.0 in Fair For comparison ISP only reached 79 for one hourly observation. https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/us/ny/new-york-city/KISP/date/2022-11-7 10:56 AM 78 °F 62 °F 58 % W 14 mph 22 mph 30.03 in 0.0 in Partly Cloudy 11:56 AM 78 °F 58 °F 50 % WNW 13 mph 0 mph 30.01 in 0.0 in Fair 12:56 PM 79 °F 54 °F 42 % WNW 16 mph 24 mph 30.00 in 0.0 in Fair 1:56 PM 78 °F 44 °F 30 % WNW 17 mph 26 mph 30.01 in 0.0 in Fair 2:56 PM 77 °F 43 °F 30 % N
