    3-4 inches per hour is the juiced up STJ doing its work, we see these in stronger el ninos and la ninas that come right after stronger el ninos. Hopefully we see more of these going forward this season (and maybe next season too, since la ninas after el ninos are very snowy.)

    wow 12-18 right near the Delaware Water Gap, along I-80 from there to the Poconos exits near and beyond I-81. and snow has redeveloped in NE PA so more could accumulate.

    I wonder if there were any reports of thundersnow? I saw some signs of lightning strikes, but they were offshore near the center of the strengthening low.

    Nice, there could be an 18" report somewhere out of NW NJ by the time the storm ends. Basically from NE PA through NW NJ to the Hudson Valley got 12-18" with 3-4 inches per hour rates for 2-3 hours!

    3" per hour widespread from NE PA to your area. It's going to be interesting to see how large the 10" foot print with this storm is-- I've also seen reports of 10-12" coming from NW NJ.

    3.6" per hour for 2.5 hours?! You and Julian got into the same band that hit the Poconos with 3" per hour and a foot of snow.

    Did you get 4 inches an hour for 2 hours?! That's absolutely amazing. In the Southern Poconos, it was 3 inches an hour and a foot or so of snow.

    sounds about right, it snowed here from 4 PM to 8 PM and stuck to cartops and rooftops

    Was the storm just too close to the coast? We needed a NE wind-- and for that the center of low pressure would have needed to be due south of Montauk when it was due east of Atlantic City right?

    yup and it snowed 3 inches per hour!

    in the southern Poconos just north of you, it was around a foot of snow from Albrightsville up to Blakeslee. It was snowing 3 inches per hour at Bear Creek.

    I wouldn't say 97-98 was a failed el nino, it was way too much of an el nino.

    la ninas after el ninos are much better. Unless we get a HECS like we got in 82-83 and 15-16, count on next winter being better than this one.

    It was nice to see a few hours of snow on the south shore (it snowed from 4 PM to 8 PM here) and see car tops and roof tops get covered.

    It's time to go after the deniers and skeptics and start suing them. If they are the reason we are seeing so much inaction, it's time for them to be the ones to pay for all the climate disasters we're having. If it gets them to shut up-- GREAT. But we can't just allow them to say and do whatever they want. They need to be silenced. And before anyone says anything, I don't give a sh1t about the first amendment any more than I do about the second. Survival is at stake here.

    He somehow thinks that for him to get a lot of snow in Albuquerque the east coast needs to get little or no snow.

    they don't even measure until it changes to rain and it's mostly gone anyway

    wow both 2007 and 2018 were historic. in 2007 we had historic 70s heat in January and in 2018 we went from single digit cold in January to near 80 degree historic heat in February and then to historic snow and cold in March and April! and of course this is the day of the historic January 1996 blizzard!
