  1. While I know you cannot advect radar, the regional mosaic appears to be lighting up.
  2. Shipped today, comes Friday. Really excited for this.
  3. I get Vietnam-esque flashbacks from that event.
  4. Someone did a story of October snows greater than 1" at BWI, MDT and DCA. The results were pretty close to 1:1 that showed more than 1" in October with the exception of 1 year (2002-2003?) was warm and well below average.
  5. October snow is a death kiss for a good winter in these parts.
  6. FCPS seems to be pretty on the ball. Other jurisdictions in MD have been looking to them as kind of the state leader in this rapid transition to online education. What's going to be interesting is to see what sticks around for winter days. I can certainly see the 3" - 6" storms become online learning days to cut down the issues. What's going to be interesting are events where there is a forecast of more widespread power or Internet outages, such as ice storms in central or western MD and schools are just closed outright.
  7. Schools are being asked to change ~200 years of instruction practice in under 3 months. We're also finding out what parts of the country had inequitable access to reliable Internet.
  8. I just purchased the Tempest weather station from Weatherflow. The reviews are pretty good and the price is very reasonable at $330. You can enter the discount code, Tempest10off, which saves 10% through Oct 1 I believe. That pays for better shipping. I intend to link the station via their Wi-Fi hub to my Nest thermometer and eventually into Wunderground, which will be nice because we seem to have a bit of a data hole in the Reisterstown area.
  9. Would love to see a 6"-10" Christmas snowstorm this year. Something that covers the ground. It starts right at sunrise and goes all day. Then clears out just after sunset and you get the see that stars. That alone would be great.
  10. This was from the first tornado warned storm in Carroll County yesterday
  11. Subtropical/tropical airmess = big lightning https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1029/95GL01036
  12. It feels more humid now than this afternoon in Carroll County.
  13. Nws spotter came in with consistent damage, some to houses under the AA TOR on Solomons Island.
  14. New cell trying to fire in western Howard County.
  15. Solid couplet approaching the bay. Probably going to be a beefy waterspout.
