  1. Yup, there was wind before, just S/SW, never with much backside NW to get some upwelling. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
  2. Block island buoy down to 67 degree water temps with the NW winds. Crazy compared to 79 a few weeks ago. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
  3. RI storms always miss Narrgansett... Magic jamestown bridge forcefield has then slide from EG to newport. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
  4. Someone brought the literal torch to RI this week. Lots of brush fires. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
  5. Will be good, but higher temps reduce output. Lose about 9% at 80 degrees vs 40 degrees. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
  6. Crazy out there. Friend is a troller at Snowbird, said 3 feet last 24 and dumping, another 2 ft projected. Season has been constant control work. They may have a shot at 1000"? Crazy to think about as still ~200" away, but for this season the century marks come easy... Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
  7. Froude numbers look good.... Disolve the picnic tables... Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
  8. Just shy of 50 running errands in Warwick. Feels tropical with the sun and greenhouse effect in the car; had to crack a window for the wife staying in the car with the kid. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
  9. Played 9 holes today, not sure they even needed the winter greens. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
  10. Gradient in southern RI is crazy. Nothing and clear skies in northern narragansett, meanwhile snowing decent with accumulation in Point judith. Friend said 1-2 inches. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
  11. Pretty decent coastal flooding in the bay/south coast RI during high tide. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
  12. 75/65 for a high here. As others have mentioned, it wasn't so much the temp as it was dews that made it feel summery. Sticking to couch right now as I crack a beer in shorts. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
  13. Was building towards dark. Some bigger waves than this lurking, but a few representative ones. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
  14. Interesting to see the readings on the buoys down south. Bermuda (~33 ft) and Hatteras buoys have been solidly above forecast. 14 sec energy has started to show in RI waters, above initial forecasts. Shouod get up to 17 plus tomorrow. https://playbuoy.web.app/ ^Good buoy UI which shows buoy readings with full component breakdown and comparison to gfs wave forecast for that buoy location. 15. Finally one connecting a little on south coast of RI Edit: well 5 miles north of south coast. True south coast got missed?
  16. Just a note, but it has been one of the flattest August's (surf-wise) I can remember in RI. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
  17. Ran some errands up there and it was pouring, meanwhile 0.15 so far at the house by the south coast. Home stations 7 miles NW with over 1.25 inches. 0.88 inches MTD. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
  18. Only 0.07 in in the gauge in Narragansett, while >1" in West Kingston. Pain. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
  19. June was decent here with 4", July: 0.68, and Aug 0.73 MTD. Nice magnolia in our yard is dying. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
  20. Home station hit dewpoint >80 for first time (only 3 years old). Dewpoint of 80.1 and heat index of 112. Hoping it peaked here.
  21. Coworker had to replace his evap coil in his attic. Said it was 120 up there and he had to set a 10 minute timer. 86/78 Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
  22. 61 and overcast at our house in S. RI. Wife is 10 miles northwest and it's 77 and sunny. Feels bad. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  23. Some decent wind, gusting over 30 at home (s. RI) Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  24. Yes, but that is the distribution side of things, not operating the grid. Texas had a grid capacity issue, not a distribution infrastructure issue. The more analogous party in new england to the Texas issue is ISO-NE who operates our grid. To your point distribution across New England is crap ( managed by CMP, Eversource, National grid, etc) Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  25. A concern, but we are a little more resilient to cold temps than ERCOT (tx). Their nat gas generation and supply fell off line due to cold temps, while we are weatherized however just constrained from a supply perspective (pipeline capacity, competition with heating, etc). Most of our generators are dual fuel which means we can run on oil, making us sensitive financially (running on oil is expensive) but less from a generating capacity and resiliancy side. That speaks nothing to the distribution side of the grid where we suck, but that is different from blackouts and load shedding like ERCOT had to do. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
