  1. It is indeed truly lovely up here - grateful for the respite
  2. Currently 74 in Beech Mountain, NC. Yesterday was low 80s and humid before four hours of storms. Feeling pretty pretty pretty good about the timing and location of this long weekend trip given what happened with the heat back home…
  3. Yeah, that’s gonna be a real potential problem.
  4. Stunner, yeah. I won’t be giving @EastCoast NPZ any joking guff over his lack of rain obs anymore…
  5. Five days ago looked like three days of good rain chances starting yesterday and instead we get scattered storms for a part of the area yesterday and now days and days of oven setting heat? Not great.
  6. Drove down I-81 on way to western NC on Wednesday and that map on severe drought out that way is absolutely accurate. Everything was brown.
  7. Dammit - it’s July! should have put my obs here - 61 with a dew point of 52, humidity gone and feels amazing.
  8. Wow - feels unreal this AM with the humidity gone. 61 with a dew point of 52.
  9. Got very lucky and got clipped on the edge of the severe warned storm for Harford county and got 15 minutes of downpour. Will take what I can get.
  10. So glad you and yours are ok. Hope insurance helps with the electrical damage.
  11. Yup - not sure total but it was meaningful up my way. MUCH needed and still gentle rain at the moment.
  12. May be a hair south for my locale for decent rain is my fear - better for the metros maybe… went ahead and watered the flower pots and gardens.
  13. EJ - we need rain. RAIN. I don't care if it comes with wind, need rain.
  14. Man I hope that comes to pass - we need if SO badly up my way
  15. 84/69 at the finish line for the balt women’s 5k. Well done to everyone running this. First woman was across in just over 15 minutes…
  16. 78/69 in Monkton. About to head to downtown Balt to meet my wife after she runs a 5k starting at 7:30 am for around the harbor. Air conditioned breakfast the goal…
  17. Unreal pic - thanks for sharing
  18. 96 Monkton - that’s…pretty hot for out here in the countryside
  19. I’ve always assumed people live there because they were stuck in one of those jams on 95 and just gave up and bought a house to get out of traffic…
  20. hoo buddy, the catbirds are LOUD this spring up my way. Just super eager to share all the news in their lives with...anyone in ear shot. At all times.
  21. Tornado warning for AA, downtown Balt city and Balt county (Dundalk area) until 9:42
  22. Can I make a random observation/thought - I grew up in central and southwest OH and saw my fair share of severe weather days - and certainly continued to do so for the 11 years I was in middle and west Tennessee, but on those days in those locales way more often than not we would actually start potential severe days with clear(ish) skies and sun. From living here in Baltimore/northern Maryland area since 2010, it is WAY more common to get to potential severe days just completely socked in with clouds. Dense overcast. Which, generally, does NOT help with getting conditions optimal for decent storms/severe. Is that maybe because of where we sit between mountains and the ocean - do we just accumulate clouds on these days and can't easily clear them? Is it a function of our locale? Or am I just making stuff up/musing on things that don't have a basis in any kind of sensible fact?
