  1. Dayton already had a wind gust of 53 kt (61mph) and this storm went right next to Louisville with several severe reports. New tornado warning in N Mississippi (Holly Springs)

  8. That Pacific warm air mass really showed up under the jet stream ridge today, with 60's in the Midwest and even 80 degrees in Kansas.
  9. Today's storm has been an impressive storm from California to Wyoming, with some warnings in Nebraska also. There was lots of snow on the Colorado webcams today such as Breckenridge, Ouray, Frisco, Pikes Peak.

  14. There used to be a way to use the Iowa State IEM web page to look up the number of days since a winter storm warning, or tornado watch, for example, was issued by a NWS office. I can't seem to find that anymore. Also, there was one time when I figured out how to look up, say, for example lowest pressures recorded at airports. I can't seem to find that option either on Iowa State. Does anybody know anything about that? I figure, maybe with this 980mb low, it'll be extremely low pressure for a few airports' historical records. here's the base web site https://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/
  15. The GFS and ECMWF both predict strong wind and possible blizzard coming up for areas of Colorado, possibly the Palmer Divide.

  17. I was looking at some info from Minnesota this week. On the 18th, Rochester had a high of 3, low of -19 (tied a record low.) That's pretty nasty when a place in Minnesota ties a record low in the winter. Some of the records at this time of year are -22 and lower, though. Rochester was 79 degrees just before Halloween.

  20. I may guess this is the largest area of the USA that has been covered with extreme cold warnings. This specific warning seems to have replaced wind chill advisories/warnings this year. (Not really sure if this change took effect last fall or something.)
