  1. One of my favorites also. I liked lite message songs live smoke gets in your eyes, Tom Dooley, Leslie Gores, Downtown.. Manhattan Spiritual was a great wordless piece. Some of the radio MC’sin theearly sixties had good voices. HOA, Herb Oscar Anderson had a wonderful voice. Scott Muni also, I recall. As always ....
  2. At that time I remember a the Fugazy Cadillac dealer had some kind of contest with a substantial award if the storm snow total went over 20 inches. I remember the initial measurement zoo folk coming in, conveniently a little under 20 inches. I didn’t know a dry slot from a wet slot ( no snickering youngsters ). I just remember that my let it snow 24 inch upright measure board completely disappeared in my postage stamp back yard. “ Those were the days my friends, we thought they’d never end”. As always ......
  3. There was a weather lady that would play the ukulele at the end of the forecast. I can’t remember her name. She may have been the one that Tex married.Tex would drop snippets of his upcoming marriage even to the point of saying they were going to Greece for the honeymoon. I believe the news anchor at that time was Roger Grimsby. As always ......
  4. I only remember him complimenting Wethafella back then, he said he was the finest weather hobbyist he ever encountered. A very true statement and a rare DT compliment. As always .....

  6. Could not agree more. It why in my UHI inner city area I never listen to early frost reports. In my area frost, even on cars, is as rare as an accurate snow measurement in CPK. As always ....
  7. I still can’t figure out how to post a photo even in these easy days. IR17 can you imagine how some of the present generation of posters would have faired on the forums back then. As always .....
  8. As I remember, very little censorship. I still remember a young DT getting upset because someone accused him of saying something negative about the then super met Joe Bastardi. Today he might consider the accusation a compliment. Wild place back then, like the old west, before the forum self destructed. As always ....
  9. When considering the term; how to be rational when all around are just the opposite. If Tip gets in on this, heaven bless his between the ears strength, it may be quite a multi page discussion. As always ....
  10. Rough time of year, when even the ninth symphony loses patience. As always ......
  11. How could I not. I watched Gene Autry sing Rudolph on B&W tv. This song of lost, found and lost love squeezes you at its end. As I said in a post a few minutes past midnight on the morning of the 25th last year, Happy Christmas and New Year to all and remember; it is better to be wrapped in red, green, silver and gold then your own tears. ..... and the snow just changed to rain, as always......
  12. Unc. You may not be old enough, but Do you remember Joe Bolton of later “Officer” Three Stooges Fame, as a Weatherman on b & w tv in the early fifties? He used a grease pen on a, I guess, glass screen overlaying an outline map to make temperature and other notations. For some reason the memory stuck with me. As always. ...
  13. I was a freshman in Brooklyn Tech. School cancelled and Mayor Wagner banning cars from the city during the cleanup. As for CPK the measurement teams traditions remain. As always .......

  15. Well, as the ditty goes “ April showers bring May flowers”. That works even if it is white rain. As always ....
  16. As you should be. It’s better to be A Big Weenie than a small one. At my age and location on the circle I’d settle for having any. As always ....
  17. S19 sorta reminds me of one of his namesakes. “Knew the sun was hot that day so he said let’s run and we’ll have some fun before I melt away”. Then a disembodied voice says “cue the Moderators” and the rest Is yearly forum seasonal history. As always ...
  18. Compared to us in the five borough metro the do, in the northern environs come close. As always ....
  19. Same here, except when my father got the phone bill he, in the tradition of the forums very capable moderators, no posted and banished me. Phone booth as my only option I had to walk to 13th Avenue or Fort Hamilton Pkwy to get in range of the nearest one. He was right, of course, but I wouldn’t admit that until now. You know, youth, age, waste and wisdom. As always.....

  21. Born in BK NY, bred, in BK NY and eventually ... we’ll you know. My first weather radio was a gift. A small barrel shaped brown plastic shape with a pull up antennae. I believe the voice was artificial. It sure sounded that way. 162.55 megahertz I’ll never forget that. Many years late4 I believe the voice was changed. To me the new one sounded stranger than the old one.. As always. ....

  25. Life throughout the universe, at least at a base level is probably not uncommon. The discovery of Intelligent life which evolves to a point where it can survive its own self importance remains remote. To discover it means to attain it. The odds are much higher that I will wake up tomorrow young, handsome, functional and holding both a mega and power ticket with the correct five plus one numbers. Another comparison on the odds and a close second would be consistent accurate snow measurement in CPK. As always. .....
