  1. I always wondered how you rated us for banning. As always ...
  2. He really can’t, only because this is the banter thread. As always .....
  3. Plus being rejected by the Hells Angels for being over qualified.. As always .....
  4. Sad, now a days, how the standards have been lowered. As always ....
  5. This still doesn’t come close to what you gentlemen go through in the winter when the NE forum is in storm mode. You and Bx usually have to use a , howitzer to lighten that mood. As always ....
  6. Your right it wasn’t 51degrees at the time of the celebration. It had, I believe, dropped to 55 degrees by midnight. With a stiff breeze on the roof at those temperatures it felt cold. This year with the Macy’s display around the Brooklyn Bridge I may give it another go. 33 years later. The sycamores are taller but I should still have a decent view, Thart is, if I don’t fall off. As always ..
  7. I remember that 51 degrees. I was on the roof of my Red Hook/Cobble Hill row house watching the fire works around lLiberty Island. I was freezing, it felt a lot colder, with the breeze, then 51. Frank Sinatra was part of the night celebration. I look at all the pleasure boats and every day folk close into the festivities. With today’s sad reality it probably could never be reproduced. Restrictive protective measures would have to be in effect. Thanks for the memory, Unc.
  8. Ref knyc your on safe ground. There is a greater chance for the sun to rise in the west than to get an accurate measurement in the park.
  9. Focusing on the weather climate is a lot more enjoyable than following the political climate. Considering the above predictions there doesn’t, at the moment, seem to be much of a difference.
  10. Admistrator/Moderator. Invisible and visible warriors in the forum world. We are back. It’s over and Thank You for what must often seem a thankless job. As always ...........
  11. Factor in the 89 degree days and two station are already there. A few stations may have a shot at fifty 89/90 plus degree days.
  12. "She's" probably not to thrilled with you either.
  13. May you and your harpsichord live happily ever after.
  14. Now now Forky, don't be bitter. He never did make it with the Countess karoline. His Fantasia In F Minor could have as easily been dedicated to you.
  15. True friends are rare, aquaitences many. When necessity forces me to the roof of my Cobble Hill row house I look to the east at the growing Brooklyn skyline. I also spend a moment gazing east of north at the Freedom Tower, remembering sadly. Now I also gaze to the north and west and wonder how privileged it would have been to run with the wolves. For memories and dreams, I am truly greatful.
  16. A friend of mine said, after I was trying to explain what I obviously didn't understand, " cut the crap and use this" he handed me a weather rock. Told me to put it in a clear open area and if it's wet it's raining, white it's snowing, if dry, I can figure out for myself. He did have a point, at least, where I'm concerned.
  17. Even with 15 hours to go, this should receive Banter Post Of The Day award.
  18. I grew tomatoes yearly when I was young. I would always have to battle the green horn worms. They got to be real big and could strip kill a good healthy plant quickly. The birds were my natural ally. I recall seeing a Cardinal doing battle with one. The plant shook like it was in an earthquake until the bird, with the worm draped out of both sides of its beek, staggered into the air with dinner for the next week. Are they still a problem like they were fifty years ago?
  19. I remember when leaves were still burned in piles on the city streets. Great aroma. Than street cleaning with alternate side of the street parking took effect. Well, at least leaf burning never seemed as dangerous as Christmas tree burning, common also 60+ years ago.
  20. Oh for a breath of that fresh scented air.
  21. How sad for those in your sphere who lost their chance. I will not lose mine.
