Thunderstorms on the doorstep. Winds gusting to 36 mph ahead of the line. Temp has already dropped 12 degrees in the past 30 minutes, from 88 to 76.

Numerous brief gusty showers with some heavy downpours have been moving through the past few hours. Last one had some thunder. Just measured 2.80” so far.

When I turned on the game in Cleveland and they said they were getting rain from a gulf low before we were I cringed. Glad it’s not winter lol.

I’ve worked in management for some rich guys before. If one of them had said publicly that he had provided me with all the resources I had asked for, was embarrassed by the results, and considered the performance of the organization to be a threat to his legacy, I wouldn’t expect to keep my job. Elias is a smart cookie. Pretty sure he could read the writing on the wall when Rubenstein made those comments early last month.

I think there was around 5,000 tons of explosives used just from Sideling Hill to Martin’s Mt over a 5-year period. i spent a lot of time in that area as a kid, visiting family in Beans Cove, Rainsburg and Clearville.

Drove that stretch a lot, in all kinds of bad weather, before I-68 was there. Rt 40/48 was a thrill ride crossing those hills, especially in thick fog or blowing snow. Glad you and the truck made it safely.

That line split as it passed through here but found some juice and reformed as soon as it crested the Blue Ridge.

Nothing severe here despite the warning. Could see the low clouds racing across the sky but winds never translated to the surface. Decent rainfall though with 0.35” from the fast-moving line.

STW through 10:30 a.m. for my yard. Radar indicated 60 mph wind gusts. Waiting….

Three times yesterday, promising-looking storms died just before they arrived here. Happened again this morning. What a waste of thunder.

@wxmeddleri asked but she didn’t know for sure. And wasn’t willing to go outside to check lol. Said it was so loud in the store she couldn’t hear people talking to her. Edit- and now she just texted to say power just went out. I’m 8 miles away I see sunny skies after 0.40” earlier.

My daughter is at the Dick’s Sporting Goods in Martinsburg, waiting out the storm. Says water is coming through the roof and into the store in multiple places. Says the hail is the largest she’s ever seen. Latest STW is now mentioning ping-pong ball size.

RadarScope showing some 2.5” accumulation markers around WV exit 12 on I-81. Almost all of that in the past 30 minutes.

Had a decent thundershower in the last half hour here. My son is at work in Martinsburg and called to say large hail is accumulating there.

Loud thunder, several nearby CG strikes, and very heavy rainfall here with some small hail mixed in. No wind at all though.
