  1. Yeah it's pretty windy here now with the storm. Some gusts over 30mph. A little lightning.
  2. Most of the action is staying well to the west, but it appears we're gonna get lucky with a brief downpour. I'm hearing some thunder here now.
  3. Probably a nice inch to inch and a half soaking Monday into Tuesday. Boy do we need it .... it's very dry out there.
  4. Seems very likely that the Euro is overdone. It has over an inch of rain for our area this weekend, but we know from the short range models that most of the rain is likely to stay north and west for the weekend. I'll be surprised if our area sees anything today ..... just a slight chance.
  5. Had a high temp of 88 here. I planted the warm weather vegetables today -- tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, zucchini and pole lima beans. It felt good planting the vegetable garden in warm weather today.
  6. I'll be satisfied as long as we get around an inch of rain. We don't need the big 3 to 5 inch amounts that the Euro is showing, but we do need a good watering. It'll be interesting to see if the Euro holds with the much bigger amounts on the 12z run. It seems as if our very big rain event is falling apart.
  7. I was just gonna post the same thing. Models not showing much anymore ... most of it stays to the north and west. We probably have to wait until Monday into Tuesday for our soaking. As long as it comes eventually.
  8. I agree with you, and I see the Euro has backed off from the huge amounts and is now more in line with the other models. Most of the area is probably looking at a 2 to 4 inch rainfall for the period, which is good. We could use a big soaking.
  9. Now the Euro extends the rain through Wednesday. What a difference from a few days ago when it appeared it was gonna rain on Friday and clear out for the weekend. I'm glad to see these changes though ... we need the rain.
  10. 76 degrees here with a dewpoint of 31 and not a cloud in the sky. Weather doesn't get any better than this. The soil here is very dry though. I'm going outside now to water the vegetable garden. I hope we get a decent amount of rain at the end of the week. I see the Euro now gives us most of our rain Saturday instead of Friday.
  11. I was one of the unlucky spots -- only 0.15" here. Not enough to give things a good watering. Thursday night into Friday looks like the only decent chance of rain. Other than that the next week and a half looks dry. I'll be needing to water the vegetable garden a lot.
  12. One heavy downpour missing just a few miles to my north and another just a few miles to the south. Only a moderate shower here.
  13. Yeah I just checked radar and am pleased to see that a downpour is approaching.
  14. Only .12 here so far, and radar doesn't look promising. Slight chance we get hit by a downpour this afternoon. If not we're going to end up with less than a quarter inch, which would be pretty disappointing.
  15. Yeah it's getting to the point that watering is needed. I'll be watering my broccoli and lettuce plants this afternoon. I haven't had to water them much since I planted them in late March because we got plenty of rain, but it's becoming dry out there again. Getting to the point that we could use some rain. It looks like a pretty good soaking for Saturday. Hopefully that will happen.
  16. I have 3 types of woodpeckers in my back yard regularly -- Downy, Red-bellied and Yellow-shafted Flickers. I see the Pileated woodpeckers (like the pic that FPizz posted) where I hunt in Hunterdon county. Always cool to see woodpeckers.
  17. It did manage to touch 60 here, but most of the afternoon was spent in the mid 50s. Felt chilly.
  18. Only 55 here right now. I don't think we're gonna make the forecasted low 60s today. Not a surprise that temps are underperforming with the clouds and wind off the ocean. I'm looking forward to the much warmer weather the rest of the week.
  19. 76 degrees here right now. Beautiful out there! Low 80s tomorrow. I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!
  20. The peak of the meteor shower is Monday night, but unfortunately it looks cloudy then. So it's a good idea to check it out tonight with the perfect sky conditions. Should be able to see a few.
  21. Deep blue sky and not a cloud. 60 feels a little cool with the breeze, but a STUNNING day. It feels great doing some work outside today.
  22. It was nice to have warmer weather today. It hit 69 here.
  23. I got 1.43" here. Nice soaking. I'm glad we're out of the drought now.
