Scooter and Bob pretty much nailed it. Products with prodiamine as the active ingredient will give you longer weed prevention coverage--normally 90-120 days--compared to Dimension(dithiopyr active ingred) which is more like 30-60 days(at best) The reason you would use the Dimension is if you are planning on doing some fall seeding, you can do multiple apps of it and know that it will be gone from the soil most likely by seeding time(Early Sept). With prodiamine, if you drop it in May, it may last right through Sept, which is great for longer season crabgrass control, but makes Fall seeding more tricky because it will also prevent the grass seed from growing too. If your sod is nice and thick, I would skip the seeding and just do the Weed preventer.

Yep, I have those insulated cellular blinds on all windows and they help ALOT keeping the house cooler while the AC is running during peak daylight hours. They help in winter too keeping heat in.

Heat and dews were good for warming up the Rec Park pool though this week, felt near 80F or so. Only thing that weather is good for.

For sure--low was 49.7F here, I would take those lows all summer. I know some would not agree and need it warmer. OK, so maybe 55F for the low and 75-80F for the high would be ideal--without dews of course.

Dendrite or someone in the past has posted those charts showing how many hours with dews at 70F or higher for some major stations compared to other summers. Be interesting to see that.

Yea, I haven't noticed them biting really, but exactly as you describe--mostly an annoying ear, eye and head attack.

I noticed a big uptick in black flies here too in the past 3-4 days. I didn't realize they had multiple summer cycles--thought it was one and done in May/June? This was one of the most tame Deer fly seasons since I moved here-only noticed them on a handful of days really. Maybe too much rain and not enough sun throughout July when they are normally vicious.

Although if storms miss the next few days think it will go down hill kind of quickly.

Got to 87.1F today. Davis dew got up 77F--maybe elevated a bit by rain last night and not on a tarmac. No 90s yet this season here yet--Thursday and Friday maybe last chance for the summer? We'll see. That Covid thread is yikes to the 10th power---and without Phin too! Ha

Guesstimating Bromley had 36ish OTG in Nov 2018 mid slope and up when I was out there. Crazy, think that was peak depth for the season.

Cant you just pull by hand if its big enough? I don't have any in lawn, but some in flower beds that I just pull. You can always do the Roundup paint brush method too. I think your right, it they are getting big the normal weed killers wont work, like Crabgrass like you mentioned.

Going to a college in the late 90s/early 2000s with many, many kids from NJ it was practically a uniform during hot days around campus. But yea, totally no big deal calling them that, which is funny thinking about today's climate.

Yes, there is water nearby. Its kind of setup to become a disaster with heavy rains. The road is pretty steep and is right along the western slope of the Greens . I attached a couple images below of the road, where the water intersects, and waterfall. At the top of the road where it ends is actually also a waterfall with a culvert that goes under the road and the water eventually meeting up with Bromley Brooke and the Battenkill. The terrain at the top of the road goes like straight up almost from there a couple thousand feet. So you have steep terrain with a waterfall and stream/brook flowing down the hillside and 5" in a few hours and you see what happened. It's a beautiful spot other then when a 10ft deep section of road is wiped out....

Yep, thats the same road I posted pics of the other night. They have about half of it redone I heard. Heard from long time locals the only other time it was washed out like that was Irene.

Never seen it flood so bad in downtown Manchester, water just pouring from every direction into the shopping district into businesses--torrents. There isn't really a main river near downtown, so it takes a ton of water to flood it. Took a quick trip and the guy I talked to said I missed the worst of the flash flooding too by about 10 mins. The backyard river is raging, almost shaking the ground. So much for the .40" modeled. Ha

Blasphemy! Honestly, that majority of people feel the same way. My first house in PA was like 80% crabgrass and weeds during mid summer so it was always green even during hot dry spells. My family would always come over and say "Wow, you lawn looks great- so nice and green!" Lol.

VIS just a smidge better than a few days ago.. that ridge is only about 1/4 mile away.
