Guess it's time to switch seasonal mode as that scan from PF makes me want to break out my pics from a few years ago of the that Lake Effect Champlain band I drove into...
-
Your definitely the king radiator of the VT crew, probably got down to around 32-33F-ish would be my guess 36.9F here.

Even pre Covid, most people I know around here(full time residents) are not expecting central AC because so many don't have them. Honestly having central AC had minimal impact on pricing I think. I remember looking at like 30-40 houses and maybe a handful had central AC. It is certainly a nice to have, especially with increasingly dewy summers, but around here it is almost a novelty, like having a pool. I would love central AC, but don't even remember it on our wish list when house shopping. Maybe I was in the wrong price range--sub $1 mill..lol. There are definitely is an uptick in the mini split route it seems around here.

Yea, on paper, the US looks really potent for the next few Ryder cups because of their age. Like was mentioned in the broadcast a few times, Ryder Cup is built into European players DNA, so we'll see what happens in 2 years over there after this smashing the US put on them. Ryder Cup is one of my favorite sports events to watch--especially when it's close. Although this was fun too..lol. ...

Lol, I was thinking that. And also wants some decent retention too. Maybe we see a new Cocorahs station pop up before winter?
-
Yep, same town. Be interesting to know why she chose there specifically.

Don't think there was a rain total you didn't question in SNE all summer...lol. My Davis is normally within a couple hundredths of my stratus on almost all events after I did a little calibration. I kind of know what your mean when I look locally at some PWS at times, some seem maybe off a bit at times, for the most part they seem OK. Plus the differences could be pretty drastic over short distances during convective season.

I know there are some guys around here that have some go to skin spots on EQX, no idea where exactly. But yea, toll road would make the access little easier. I looked a house a few years ago at the base of equinox in the 1500' range deep in the woods, i recall a trail literally out the backdoor, not sure if it was "off grid" or not. I have some friends that ride over that way all the time. Never been on a Snowmobile, need to tag along one of these winters with some friends that have them to try it out.
-
The higher elevations of Dorset and Mt Eqx definitely get more than 90" of snow, my seven year running total average here is 97.1" Now, I'm also measuring every tenth of an inch and really not missing anything, but you can see how in the 1500-3500ft range would certainly be more. The biggest issue by far would be the retention, which just sucks east of the spine, even at elevation on Mt Eqx and the hills around Dorset.(Although total snowfall is prob lower too) If there were ski hills at EQX and Dorset, below 1500' would be a struggle for natural coverage some years. Mt Eqx actually does pretty well on blocked upslope flow, but again the whole Taconic range in SVT can torch all the way to the top. Stratton, Bromley, Mt Snow, Magic, Okemo, etc all have MUCH better retention and do better on big east coast storms with E/SE flow for the most part. Every time I look at Equinox it just screams potential, regardless of snowfall or retention.

New England Fall Foliage 2021
backedgeapproaching replied to CT Valley Snowman's topic in New England
In the valley spots around here as well it's really bad, lots of brown-ish/dull yellow with ALOT of leaves already down from fungus/stress or whatever. I'm not going to full DIT and saying the whole season is shot just yet. I can't quite tell yet how the 1500-3000ft hillside zone will be-may end of being OK there--too ealry to tell. But, around town, its kid of fugly to be honest at the moment.- 235 replies

Looks like I'm at 59.67" which is prob a bit above average and there is a little sliver of green near my station which seems about right too. Mitch is over 70". No one is within 10" precip wise. Obviously its been a little wetter overall in the southern part of the state as the map illustrates.

At Least The 12th Lawn Thread
backedgeapproaching replied to Damage In Tolland's topic in New England
Ryegrass should be 4-5 days..its super quick, the bluegrass is really slow and even when it does come up, it barely grows for another week or two. Hope for a warm fall for the Bluegrass to fully establish. -

Depends on what is on the mix like Bob said. Need to look on the lesco bag. -

Yep, exactly. The prep is what takes longer and is most of your time and effort, but worth it in the long run. -

Definitely not too early for seed. I reseeded some areas 3 weeks ago and have mowed them 2 times already. You can start doing fert apps too. Want to make sure your seed gets down to the soil, why I commented on Bobs post about the nice seed bed. -
Definitely noticing some subtle changing down here. Some of those purple-ish hues and a smattering of faint reds.

That was a nice a seed bed you had prepped with the dethatching, definitely going to get better and quicker germination than the "spread it and forget it" method. -
Yea, I'm mean an entire career thrown down the tube for fake vax cards? I'm guessing there is more to the story that we don't know about, because on face value it just makes no sense.

https://m.sevendaysvt.com/OffMessage/archives/2021/09/07/feds-investigate-three-vermont-troopers-in-fake-vaccination-card-probe I dont get the point of this. Where is a vax card even required outside of international travel? I loosely know one of these guys, just strange as it says VT state police doesn't require it.

Yea, that sums it pretty well. Two of those SVT towns-Peru/Winhall feed into that school I was talking about needing the extra trailer space. There certainly has been an large uptick in Manchester as well, but I think maybe more of just turnover of older folks selling and younger people coming in with families, as Manchester is already an established town with decent year round population compared to the ski towns with so many empty second ski homes now being occupied full time.

Best Fall Getaways: Magazine Says Small New England Town Among Nation’s Top Destinations – NECN As if it wasn't already crazy enough in October around here.. A lot of small NE towns and suburbs may be changed forever Post Covid. My older daughter who is 9 has 8 new kids in her grade this year, they had 6 last year too. Pre Covid maybe had 1 or 2 new over a 3 year period. If you extrapolate those numbers to all grades and with 4 local elementary schools, you can see the overall new influx.(Obviously 8 new per grade if probably high, my other daughter has 3-4 I think). The elementary school that serves the Stratton/Bromely area's I know cant handle the new influx this year. I think they had to bring in extra trailers or something, it's crazy. Amazing the difference from just 6-7 years ago when we moved here. You would think this would be huge boom to the local economy here, as most people moving here are white collar workers-upper-middle class and up it seems.

Yesterday's 65F high definitely a little shock to the system, also was gusting to 30-35 throughout the day on some strong east flow/downslope winds. Spent 5 days in the ADKs during the peak heating this week and max lake water temp got to 83.7F. Warmest I've ever seen it there. Only thing high dews are good for, so worked out perfect swimming wise.

Yea, it was literally one isloated cell sitting near the spine.
