  1. 98 in October is beyond nasty. At least it's about to come to an end, hopefully for the year.
  2. Yup, it's a record high for the month at BWI. Previous record was 97 in 1941. 90s in October in Maryland were something that happened occasionally, especially early in the month, but weren't really all that common. But this is something else. Makes me so glad I was spared from that insane heat.
  3. Good God, that is obscene for October. Might be a monthly record at BWI.
  4. PDI has snowfall rates of up to 5” an hour or more in MD.... Wes Junker and others have told me stories about it. It has some of the heaviest rates of any mid-Atlantic storm.
  5. It has to be PDI since there is snow on the ground all the way to GA, and the storm looks very suppressed, which it was.
  6. I'd love to explore Whitefish some day, especially in this weather.
  7. The one other time I "moved" was when I went to grad school in southern PA, which was 2013-14, and that ended up being an amazing winter in the area. Hope my luck continues.
  8. Had a great time today, and really enjoyed seeing southern RI and the beaches, not to mention all the history including the hurricanes.
  9. Isn’t your snowfall average 80”? That might make up for the boredom lol.
  10. How do taxes and cost of living in CT compare to the rest of SNE?
  11. Montana is usually one of the first states in the lower 48 to really start getting snow. Sometimes in August.
  12. Magic is another mountain I'd like to visit. I've heard good things about it.
  13. I hardly found any lines at Wildcat. Mt Snow was pretty crowded though, probably because of its proximity to the big metro areas. But yeah, late season skiing is underrated, and while I was up there I literally forgot it was the first day of spring because it was still so wintry. The snow depth was pretty incredible around Pinkham notch, and I also took a little tour up to 4200' on Mt Washington. I look forward to getting back up there soon. Hope your boy enjoys the mountains as much as we do. Childhood is such a good time to pick up skiing.
  14. I was at Mt Snow and Wildcat last March, and I drove all the way from MD to get all the way up there. I enjoyed both mountains, and I especially enjoyed being at Mt Snow on a powder day, but I've been told there is so much more to Vermont than Mt Snow, and I'm willing to drive to see the best of it. Wildcat is nearly as far from my location as MRG, but I still definitely want to make some trips up there. Crotched is the closest Peak resort and it seems to have the cheapest lessons, so that will probably be my "home mountain" so to speak (Wachusett is the closest, but I don't want to double the money I spend on passes just for that). As far as the cost, MRG offers a much better deal for the under 30 crowd than any other good mountain in the area, and after this year I won't have another chance to get a pass that cheap.
  15. Sounds good! Sunday is the most likely day.
  16. Not yet. Maybe next weekend if I have time.
  17. It didn't feel too bad outside, probably because I'm used to the mid-Atlantic summers. At this time of the year I'm mostly indifferent to the temps. Early fall is pretty comfortable no matter which side of climo you're on.
  18. 88 on the car thermometer here in Woonsocket.
  19. I'm an intermediate skier, but after some practice at Crotched and Wildcat, and maybe Mt Snow, I'd like to give MRG a try. From the pics and videos I've seen, it's an amazing place on a powder day. For a long time I've wanted to ski in northern VT, but the other mountains are way too expensive to justify traveling that far. Maybe next year I'll get the Epic pass.
  20. Carroll county is usually a bit snowier than Loudoun, but in the immediate DC metro Loudoun is still hard to beat.
  21. I was in Providence this morning and it was very nice outside.
  22. I'm thinking of getting both the Drifter pass and the seasonal pass for MRG, which is very cheap if you're under 30.
  23. Yes, and no. Those averages are from before 2000, though I don't think they've changed much. 18-22" average is pretty typical in the immediate metro areas.
