This has been a crazy long drought. Is this the third winter? Last winter I had snowpack for almost a month due to no rain washing it away like usual. Same with the past two winters. We're lucky I guess that the one storm we did get was frozen. Same with the past two winters. I've never seen creeks dry up for years.

Drip drip has already started this morning. You can tell the arctic high is gone. Back to reality. My beautiful arctic blue sky is back to hazy and cloudy lol. The past two weeks were one of the most memorable winter experiences of my life.

I'm ready for the next ice age lol. Looks like the warm front is coming. Clouds are showing up after a spectacular blue bird morning.

Imo it's been our best winter since 2014-15 if it ends tomorrow. I saw a guy ride a four-wheeler across the West River on 8-10" of ice. That's incredible. We're lucky we have a snowpack during this cold. If you look at the pictures of the hippies driving cars on the bay in 77 you'll notice there's no snow otg. Just cold and dry.

I read the LR thread every morning. I couldn't even get through it this morning. You'd think were in the middle of winter 2011-12, not the coldest winter since 1977. I've had 2 solid weeks of outdoor winter fun like it's NY out there. I honestly felt sad for a few people while reading through that dumpster fire.

Getting our early for one last mud and slop free hike before our normal winter returns this week lol. It's been a fantastic winter. Three in a row in the lowlands. I just need a few inches of slop and I'll be at climo again this year. Temp 9

I was just coming to say that. I'm packing my truck to head to the Pine Barrens in SNJ for a hike and there's no wind at all right now. It was a little gusty an hour ago.

I haven't been out yet but it looks covered out there. It looks like an of snow where I had dug a patch through the pack. I got up and watched it come through. It came down real nice.

It's getting really sparkly on the street and on the pack. I can feel the pow on top of the pack. It's turning out to be quite the lovely evening.

These flakes remind of of Lake effect flakes. Perfect, beautiful, floating snowflakes. Now we just need it to ramp up to 6" per hour and stay that way all night. Sorry. Dreaming of my future home.

Exactly. Our forest definitely can handle a nw wind up to 60. An east wind at 60 is different. This kinda wind will clean out dead wood so that could cause a power outage. But widespread tree damage isn't happening with a nw wind during winter.

Super rare phenomenon this morning. I mean extremely rare. I didn't bust high by 5 degrees like normal. It actually fell 4 degrees below forecast. I honestly can't remember the last time that happened lol

I enjoyed this storm much more than the 2016 storm that melted 2 days later. I like winter, not just snow falling. This has been epic. I absolutely love this pack. I've hiked over 40 miles on it. Clouding up and 35. Hardly a drip and no damage to the pack.
