    I'm not trying to deb at all, but my experience over the years is thst the flip always happens way earlier than expected. I do remember a few bust the positive way to, but less lol. My bar is my grass being covered for the cold spell. I'm half way there. I was going to do a hike early this morning but I don't feel like getting caught out there in sleet. I'll wait until later for that.

    I set my alarm for 1am. I looked outside and it reminded me of being a kid. The hard surfaces are all white and it's snowing steady. LFG!

    I saw 3' fall in that amount of time in Pulaski NY a few weeks ago. We can definitely manage 8-10" including sleet! LFG!

    I mean.. imagine that sun coming through the trees with temps wall below freezing all week. Diamond trees, blue sky, Deep sleet. Sounds dreamy imo

    I don't like it so close. One more move like that and i worry we 33 and rain east of 95. I'm buying a house on the Tug Hill if I have frozen mud next week lol. Sorry for banter. Just my concern.

    The 34 degree rain is more concerning imo.

    Everyone gives the NAM a hard time. I've always respected it big time. It might not show what we like sometimes but that not it's fault. The gfs imo should be retired. It's just causes confusion. I set my expectations way back yesterday and I feel great about the storm. I just want my grass covered at this point and it's a win. Icy trees would be awesome too.

    The models held the line for the lowlands and DC area. I'll take my pelting of ice to the face and enjoy it.

    I feel like I'll be on some mythical hike in heavy snow with a little classical music playing. Then suddenly THUNDERSLEET! Flip to Metallica and embrace the ice to the face! LFG!

    I figured you were around my age. I remember every storm in my life. I was 3 months during the blizzard of 78. It's what got me started my mom tells me. I'd cry if she shut the blinds lol

    I think I was about 14. I'm 47 now. Whatever that is. My brain is in storm mode lol. It was the first time I saw the trees coated in ice with a blue sky and no wind. I also remember the one night during that spell of historical deep winter we also had a low of -4 with 4" of snow. I've never to this day seen snow that dry. It was super fluff. Anyone remember this?

    I keep seeing "you don't want this freezing rain". What if I kinda do? I might be weird. But I remember back in like 1993 or maybe 91 when we had something similar to this. It looked like a magical winter wonderland for a week. I remember the first time the sun hit that ice on trees. I just ordered micro spikes for my boots. LFG!

    I'll be doing Bacon Ridge in Crownsville. I plan to sleet to about 11pm. Get up and be at the trail head at midnight. My plan is to head about 4 miles in. I'll being taking pictures of the old cemetery where the trail crosses the old Crownsville Mental institution property. From Hawkins Road to there is a good 4 miles. That's 8 miles round trip. It should be epic with heavy snow.

    All my friends and family expect it from me lol. I mean.. my vacation this year was a snow chase on the Tug Hill. 6 feet in 4 days was exactly what I needed lol

    Yup. Now that I got that out of the ole system I'm ready to do this. This looks like an pretty unusual and interesting storm. At the end of the day that's what I'm about. I'm excited to get pelted in the face with ice while hiking on Sunday. I'm actually planning a midnight to dawn hike Saturday night. I've got an extra head lamp and joint for you lol. LFG!

    I'm actually planning a Saturday night 7 mile thru hike. I'm thinking about starting at midnight and finishing at daybreak. Want to come? It will be really fun.

    I want to apologize for a few unhinged post lol. The transition from clean storm to dirty storm was frustrating. Now that were settling into it I'm getting excited for heavy snow and dumping sleet. I had to do a little self reflection this morning to clean up my perspective on this. LFG!

    It looks like the euro might give us some fluff love after the sleet explosion around DC. That would nice.

    I had almost 10" of cold smoke last January. No mix, no drama. Just a beautiful snow followed by cold. I'm just frustrated as always watching pa get crushed by our storm lol
