  1. Yeah the low of 36 here was just before sunrise. Seems the combo of light winds and some clouds kept most places above freezing.

If we keep this going maybe we can cool the oceans and it might snow again.
  3. Yeah it is interesting, and presents an opportunity to learn. So before we derail this thread, what was your low temp this morning?
  4. I think I am all corona'd out lol. I am living a life of isolation but getting lots of outside stuff done, and keeping an eye on the latest virus news/trends. Things are generally looking better, but it is going to be a slow process.
  5. Good to see some decent rains in the forecast. After a very wet end to the month of March, only 0.40" of rain here for April so far. My well drained soil has gotten quite dry with all the wind and not much rain.
  6. The wind actually did go very light to calm early this morning, but even with that and mostly clear skies, the temp bottomed out at 36 here.
  7. Oh yeah me too. Catching tons of carpenter bees on the warmer days. But on days like this, no bugs to be found. Its much more comfortable to be outside without dodging wasps and black flies, and god forbid, mosquitoes.
  8. To each their own as they say. I LOVED today. I will take it every time over a shiity, premature warm and humid air-mass. We will see plenty of that going forward. And I have no concerns about the damn freeze warnings lol. I planted a bunch of stuff today. We will not see a legit freeze with winds blowing 20 mph in April. Low to mid 30s wont hurt a thing, and I will be up and out early to enjoy the refreshing air.
  9. Yeah it was windy af today, but seriously not cold. 50 degrees and felt fine in the sun with a hat and light jacket. I was outside putting plants in pots for summer and dug some holes to plant some perennials.
  10. Cutting through all the noise of those silly maps, it looks like it may snow a few inches in the far western highlands. Not that unusual for mid April.
  11. I may end up there later.
  12. (Good) Friday Happy Hour is about to commence. Founders KBS is the choice.
  13. XFL redux is done. Suspended operations today. Will not return. That means never.
  14. Now you can ignore all the hand wringing over AO, NAO. and EPO phases. MJO even. It's all pretty irrelevant up there.

Not sure that will ever happen on a large scale, for a variety of mostly obvious reasons.

Imagine if we had actually been prepared for a pandemic. An efficient mechanism to rapidly produce effective test kits with fast results, swabs, masks, ventilators, a process in place for effective contact tracing. Perhaps there would have been no widespread stay at home orders, and minimal shutting down of businesses. Maybe it all could be coordinated by a well funded Pandemic Response Team at the Fed level. All far fetched though. What country would do that?

Good move. Too bad I captured it.

I think you have just been added to the Phin shiithead list.
  20. I can understand putting a freeze watch in effect given the growing season has begun. I don't think the majority of the region(east of the mountains) will have much of a problem given the winds though. Temps of 32-35 with no frost won't be an issue. If the winds should go light for a time early Sat morning, then that obviously changes. Given the extended period of higher winds and low dew points, you would think there would be some fire weather concerns.
  21. It's possible if winds die down. Right now forecasts are for winds to be in the 15 mph range with gusts to 25. Without the mixing, temps could certainly get into the 28-32 range in some outlying areas.
  22. Absolutely, unless you are looking for the EPS goods.
  23. Not sure about it reaching freeze criteria, with decent winds continuing. Not likely to be any frost either. Low to mid 30s looks legit for areas away from the urban sprawl.
