  1. Kinda sad the original DFH WWS is nowhere to be found these days. It is simply the best high gravity stout ever- and some would probably characterize it as a barleywine. I miss that stuff. I bet there are a few places that might still have a few on the shelf- probably Atlantic Liquors in Rehoboth. I am sure its available down there on tap at C&M too.
  2. Currently 40 after a high of 42. Very nice day.
  3. Was outside pulling chickweed from the beds, put down some preen, and started putting in some fresh mulch. That March sun gets shit coming alive despite the cold. Saw some small spiders sunning on the rocks and bluestone pavers.
  4. Yep. For me it was mostly dealing with company doing the construction of the foundation and the shell of the log home. I also subbed out the HVAC, plumbing, ofc septic and well, and the rough electrical. Hired an Amish stone mason to do the fireplace. Me and my dad did the rest. The electrical is tricky with a log home esp on the exterior walls and any wire run for lighting fixtures that can't be pulled through the interior walls. Has to be well planned and the workers stacking the logs have to pay close attention to the rough electrical diagrams for location of outlets and light switches on the perimeter walls as they go. A bit tricky having solid walls, and pretty hard to go back and rectify it if they miss something. I drew up all the plans, and the guy I hired to do the rough electrical worked well with the guys constructing the shell to make sure it was done per the the plan. I got lots of calls while at work but most everything was resolved without me having to show up on site. eta- the only 'fix' is to run wiremold on the walls
  5. Only story I can offer is myself acting as GC when building my house, so a different perspective. It was a challenge at times trying to keep contractors lined up and on schedule, and I had to randomly leave work and run to the site sometimes to resolve some issue or conflict. There was an odd issue between the plumber and the company installing the septic system about whose responsibility it was to actually make the connection to the tank lol. I ended up helping the Septic system installer to get it done. It all turned out okay and it is nice to be the one in control of the completion of your own house, but definitely stressful and not sure I would do it again. I did a lot of the finished work myself with my dad helping, so the last stage was all on me keeping on schedule to get it completed on time per the construction loan. Pretty much all I did for months when I wasn't at work.
  6. Models need to cut back on the drinking and laughing at each other. That's rude.
  7. Ravens are leading the way with ideas on a bold change to overtime rules, and improving on field officiating.
  8. No sign of a ridge bridge on the mean in that timeframe but roll this forward a day or 2 and there is a decent look with ridging out west, cold pressing, and the SE ridge flattened. As I posted this morning the best potential for something wintry appears to be from around the 15th and esp beyond.. St Patty's day storm!
  9. (Ok, now it's in the right thread lol.) Friday, 3pm. Must be Happy Hour. Oooh this is good. Really good.
  10. I was obsessed with Speed Racer. Loved the Mammoth car episodes lol.
  11. Mondy the sea monster.
  12. A little late in the game but the next advertised 'good' look on the EPS is the period from around St Patty's day heading towards the Equinox.
  13. I drank a ho hum 120 for HH. Picked this up today from Founders: The 2021 Barrel-Aged Series will kick-off with Panther Cub, a robust porter in March 2021. Panther Cub (9.2% ABV) is aged in the finest bourbon barrels available along with a kiss of maple syrup and vanilla extract. The aroma of maple and vanilla combine with a surprisingly deep character to make this rare creature one to gaze upon fondly. For Friday HH!
  14. After a beautiful day in the low 50s, wind picking up now and temp down to 47.
  15. I think I am going to put some grass seed down this weekend in the random patches where it didn't come in very well last fall. Just going to loosen the soil and bury it an inch or so under. Wont germinate right away but should do fine and start coming up the last week of March. Pretty confident the weather will cooperate. Did this last year around the 10th of March and it worked out well.
  16. I don't see why not. I prefer the mulch to all have a darker and more consistent 'seasoned' look, so I just buy hardwood mulch. If you don't care about the aesthetics, then sure use it.
  17. Yeah wind is about the only thing to track the next few days lol. It will certainly feel like winter this weekend, but under full March sun it should be pretty comfortable for outside activities during the day.
  18. Very sloppy. Disappointing effort.
  19. Not much to track in the LR thread. Lots of sunny and cold followed by sunny and quite mild by mid next week. Zero complaints.
  20. This weekend will be perfect for getting some pre-Spring yard work done. Clean up the leaves that blew back into the yard, and put some new mulch down. Maybe some Preen. No sweat, no bugs.
  21. My dad had solar installed 6 or so years ago, and also has a geothermal heat pump. He has 20 acres so his solar panels are in a field next to the house. He tracks everything and showed me the numbers on a spread sheet. I am totally jealous. All I have is a standard heat pump(and a wood burning insert). If it wasn't completely wooded here, I would have solar.
  22. No sign of precip for at least another week. Mostly sunny every day. Glorious. Next chance of rain looks to be late next week with a low tracking well NW and a front moving through.
  23. I think you meant to say Nino here. I don't think we have enough of a sample size to say changes in Ocean temps/Pac jet has completely overwhelmed the characteristic impacts ENSO state has on our weather patterns. That is arguable at this juncture. 2015-2016 isn't that long ago and the outcome of that winter was very much on par with a strong Nino- warm overall but one 2-week colder period with some blocking produced a KU. The results of winter of 2017-18 was in alignment with the character of a Nina for the MA. The last few years the 'expected' ENSO-atmospheric coupling has been muted/overwhelmed by other factors like the MJO. One of those years, 2018-19 I think, the Nino got going late and ended up being diffuse/undefined, and the atmospheric response was minimal. This sort of result may or may not be an indication of things to come. We cant know yet.
