You obviously don't know what the average recovery time for a high ankle sprain is, then. 4-6 weeks. So somehow, in a non-playoff situation, Lamar was supposed to come back the next week or two and play on it hobbling around not able to plant or throw? With 12 games to go and no bye week until December? Bruh...no QB is gonna do that. No player is doing that period--not with that kind of sprain. I'm sorry but these arguments about this particular injury are straight up ignorant. Call him "injury prone", which can certainly be a discussion. But play on a high-ankle sprain for weeks just because Mahomes somehow did it for a couple games? (And again what he did was an extreme outlier of the norm) Illogical and unrealistic argument.

Was tonight supposed to be rad cooling or CAA? BDL still 53, doesnt seem like they'll come close to the forecast low of 41.

October 2026 General Discussion

We haven't had an epic heat event yet (its all smoothed out currently) from all this here locally but I suspect your right that it would be hard for something crazy not to air itself during this historic period. I wouldn't use March 2012 for any future prediction; its so unfathomable that even during this setup such extremes are highly unlikely. I'm thinking more like the magnitude of the heat Europe experienced in June and parts of July which was going toe to toe with 2003's event in various metrics. I'm personally hoping for 20C IMBY on 'mas day so I can eat my figgy puddin' in the backyard (no rain as a bonus). The tenacity of this pattern is getting insane. Those mega highs just keep spawning in this part of the continent. I thought for sure there would be a flip for all this gorgeous wx with those weeks during 2nd half of Sep and this very dry Oct with constant clarity - much to my delight instead we get tiny blips then back to blue skies for days. Then the models showing it just going on into Nov when I was sure it was ending . -

March 2012 or the peak event of it accelerated my passion for meteorology. It was also the first time I was really excited witnessing a weather feature that wasn't a type of cyclone (it was an anti-cyclone! ...maybe?). The ask if it was a before/after flip is intriguing: I do sort of think before and after since it mucked up what we thought was possible in climo regimes. I started thinking what if the whole script had flipped where we get acceleration in unexpected ways of trends in motion. -

I’m not going to lie, I’m a little jealous. Have a blast, and bring back some snow with you.

Lamar is injury prone and he ALWAYS chokes in the playoffs, not exactly a great combination. I can guarantee you Mahomes or Allen would be playing with this sprained ankle. He is like Charmin. This is the NFL, not tiddlywinks.

Every even year this decade (2020, 2022, and 2024) has had record warmth in the early part of November. It looks like the trend will continue this year.

Good example here on the AI of how forcing can pull the trough west from time to time. MJO exits the IO and MC where it is completely suppressed, then activates forcing over the dateline and slowly pulls east (along with the trough). -

Hopefully we are free of any significant wx events for a while; let's San Diego!! New norm

Scrapping for the bottom of the barrel for wx content. This is what happens when the wx is quiet. They have to still have wx stories b/c wx gets the ratings, and you end up with minutia articles like this w/ loaded questions "what's driving all this bluster wx?" even if this is nothing specific or obvious or as if you can always pin down the reason, yet they ask the question anyways for tease. BOS avg wind speed so far this Oct is 10.2 mph. Normal is 9.5-10.5, so noting out of the ordinary. Peak wind gust for the month so far 42 mph. MEH in terms of sig. Sep was windier than w/ 11.1 mph (8.5-9.5), but that was due to the one big extended nor'easter Sep 22-28. One event does not make a windy season overall! That's like saying on big CONUS HU landfall means it was an active HU season. I mean really, 16 years windiest fall? Slicing and dicing that down to this level? That's another thing, you have virtually endless ways to slice and dice things down to certain periods (week, months, season, etc) along w/ any given wx parameters or phenomena and historical context, and voila, content! The thing is not all is impactful, recognizable, or significant, so why report on it? Once again, CONTENT, doesn't matter the subject or significant. And a sub-headline "BOS continues to clock is most blustery year yet". Ok, so which is it -- "windy" or "blustery"? For the fall season or for the entire year so far? Just confusing statements. And for those here, what is your definition of "blustery?" I always think of cold wx w/ wind chills. No one ever says "blustery" when it is warm out or in the summer!

An all-timer. Easily the most impactful winter wx event, but I think 2013 was my favorite. As I repeatedly say, the Mount Rushmore of CT winter wx events are 1888, 1978, 2011, and 2013.

I’m going to Edmonton and Calgary in early December to see the Caps in both cities…I might need two suitcases for all the layers I’ll need.

I'm so bored I've been perusing the Octobomb and Sandy threads. Halcyon days those were.

Gross! Starting to remind me of 2024 fall minus the wildfires.
