  1. Past hour
  2. Correct. No torch as some had forecasted.
  3. We like warm. Don't miss the non-existent hot.
  4. I don't pay particularly close attention to the weather pattern this time of year in the mid latitudes, so I was excited hearing how "summer is over"...and "fall weather is here". I honestly kept waiting, and waiting...had a gander at the P & C to see 80s for as far as the eye can see. ..was like 'W in the ACTUAL F?
  5. You guys have been the hotspot for the past 2 years. Suspect a lot of your anomaly this year is due to high lows. Last year your highs were off the charts.
  6. Yeah there’s no cool or BN pattern. Not hot either but pretty warm and fairly deep summer
  7. My grass is growing so slowly at this point...like night and day from April-June.
  8. I'm with you on this...."cool" pattern was hyped up by some, it's really just warm instead of hot.
  9. Yea, temps aren't nearly as prohibitive at your latitude.
  10. Violently disagree with this. A torch is exactly that in late Dewst. Very warm pattern as we move into late week and into next week
  11. Beautiful late August weather this morning. The clear skies were perfect to see the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket fly by this morning on the southern horizon between 0537 and 0541 with a very visible jellyfish tail to it.
  12. Having more sheared and faster moving TCs in EN summers is always more of common thing at least over the northern Gulf. Likely due to typically more intense ridging nearby. The weirdest thing to me was the north-easterly upper shear from the subtrop mid-upper High that was parked north of TS Bertha. Instead of the usual south-westerly shear which commonly keeps most convection on the northern/eastern quadrants. Bertha's convection was mainly in the southern quadrant. The only other time I remember seeing that was TS Don, back in 2011. Which also went into TX. Its LL and ML circulations were also displaced, but both came into South TX. And not as much as Bertha's were. I figured Bertha was not necessarily a fully tropical TC. As the ML circulation deep convection from what I recall on lightning data was exhibiting some more frequent and intense (+)CG lightning over the Gulf, than normal in most TCs. A "colder" ML core would've had to been the culprit. By contributing to steeper mid-level lapse rates. Which typically results in more frequent and intense +CG strikes in any deep convection. Especially when ML or 700Mb - 500Mb lapse rate gets down to -7 and lower.
  13. The rise in global temperature anomalies that began in June continues through the end of August in this gfs-based forecast. August will easily break the previous August record and is tracking as the fourth highest monthly anomaly in any month on this metric, fifth highest on ERA. End of the month readings are near the peak monthly value for this metric, 1.04 in November 2023. Note that anomalies are usually highest in the colder months. We'll see what September brings. http://www.karstenhaustein.com/climate.php
  14. Unfortunately next week is looking hot p.s. After a morning like today I really don’t want to go back…
  15. +2.9 up here at CON. Only 4 days BN and a couple of those were -1 and -2.
  16. 57 for the low imby. 35 canaan nwr.
  17. It's almost as if they enjoy effing with people.
  18. But but but the drought monitor says no worries. POS product. Meanwhile everything around here is as low as can be when it just has this area as abnormally dry. Earlier this summer under “severe” drought it was full as can be.
  19. Today
  20. Yeah. Its been perfect cool season grass weather with rain practically every other day here. My lawn and all my plants have been just thriving. Mowing every 3 days at 3 inches and my grass has been literally growing an inch a day. Last fertilizer I put down was some purely organics just after july 4th. Also have hundreds of different species of mushrooms popping every other day.
  21. I think it was last week dendrite noted that the majors were all between + 2.0 and + 4.0 above normal. Today Hartford is at +1.1 , Providence is at +1.2, Worcester at + 1.7. Even the outlier Boston is at 2.8.
  22. Absolutely. Yesterday's beauty was -1.5 below normal at 81° and 59°. Nightly Lows giveth and taketh away.
