I do believe you surpassed the totals that MRX projected for you. emoji28.pngemoji28.png

I definitely beat 1/2 inch. I did see that MRX is going to claim my area got 1.5 inches per a "trained spotter". I saw multiple people from this area (Campbell County) reporting 4 to 6 inches to them but none of those reports showed up yet.

As dark has approached thicker clouds rolled back in and I have steady dimes and nickels falling.

I saw that on Radar down that way. It looks like NW flow bands. It's not doing anything here now. The fine snow stopped around 5. Looks like the NWF stuff is west of here.

I think it will rotate east as the low moves east. The NAM from 84 hours out showed this for 7pm today, as crazy as that is. Showed the Plateau into middle TN with snow showers and a break between that snow and snow along the mountains.

I remember the Christmas Eve Eve storm in 2020 I think. MRX was calling for a couple of inches and we ended up getting 6”-8”. They only recorded 2” because they said that’s how much they had a 5pm when they measured even though they admitted that earlier in the day they had at least double that.

Final measurement before dark. Settling/compacting basically offset any snow that fell today so it didn't get any deeper. But on the protected snow board I added 3/4ths inch today.

You wound up with more than here and were supposed to get less. I think La follette got quite a bit less than you from what Cam looks like there. Imagine if that System had been just 30 statute Miles further NW . You'd got over a Foot and probably 10-11 here.

Lafollette to Caryville got 4 to 5 inches from what I could tell when I went out earlier. I drove right by the spot on the mrx map that shows 1.5 inches and there was at least 4 to 4.5 there.

I got caught out on interstate 40 near dandridge in that one. Never in my life have I seen road conditions deteriorate so rapidly. It went from rain to total whiteout in about 5 minutes. About 15 minutes in, the roads were very treacherous.

I remember that. Seems like a strong NNW flow band set up and ran right down 75 for extra snow down that way.

That’s exactly right… we were on the northern fringe of a system that passed to the south of us and we got maybe 3 inches out of it. About an hour later, Northwest flow kicked in and we got three or four more inches out of that. Leading up to that event, the mods were showing anywhere from 4 to 8 inches in East Tennessee. WATE said the reason why they gave their self an A- was because the northwest flow event was a completely separate event that they didn’t know was coming.
They made a big social media post and a big deal out of it. At a time, I seriously thought it was a joke.
