Yeah Norwood nearby here has faked its way too. But in terms of high impact cold, really haven’t had it.

Today makes 17 straight subzero mornings.  Forecast has #18 tomorrow, which would tie 1982 in Fort Kent for my longest anywhere.

For NYC I think the -7 1934 entry is just the midnight low on the way down to the -15, as are some other NYC record lows. There are several -6 lows that would be next in the list of morning lows.

That is correct.  The other -7 came on Dec 31, 1917, the day after the -13 minimum.  My records show 6 days of -6 at NYC and one of them was 12/29/1917, likely an 11:59 reading. 
Dec 29, 1917-Jan 4, 1918 stands alone as Central Park's coldest week.

It was a good run. We probably start sliding back now in the rankings but for this to be the coldest winter since 1996 at BDL is impressive.

Coldest start at ORH too since 1995-96 at this point. The two years immediately ahead of 2026 are 1976 and 1996 and both were quite torchy around 2/9-11 so we actually might pass those two over the next few days even though we're not going to be particularly frigid....today's number will be pretty cold though which aren't in the books yet.

I know some are conditional when it comes to winter wx, but I've thoroughly enjoyed the cold. Kind of hate I missed the -20 up at WXW2 but at least I had the other one. 

For down here it's pretty crazy to have as many below zero days as I've had, and not all were radiational nights. I've had 5 below zero lows since 1/23, and an additional 10 days with lows below 10.0. I've never seen the Connecticut River this iced over.

How far is 02-03? Honestly hasn’t felt like the coldest start since 96. It’s been solid, but Jan 03 had some big cold too.

Both 2003-2004 and 2002-2003 were about 0.4F behind at this point. Still quite cold but tied for 23rd while this year is tied for 17th

Top 5 days over 12 this alone with way BN temps gives this winter so far a solid A
