Thanks brother! It’s been a long time waiting. Last 4”+ snowfall, minus today, was all the way back in January of 2011. It’s been a very long wait. First time in my life where we have had back to back winters with more then 4” of snow total in both winters. We definitely cashed out here. But areas west of me, specifically Atlanta, suburbs, and metro got a dusting to nothing at all, so a lot of upset Atlanteans. Normally NGA and WGA hog all out snow and E/NE get the infamous warm nose and always get screwed, but not this time. Last 2 winters have made the wait well worth it. I’m personally ready for summer after today. It’s been one of the closest January’s on record here and around the SE in general and boy I am ready for shorts and tank weather lol

I just drove out to Mebane and back from ~Wegmans area of Raleigh. Picks up as soon as you hit Cary/KRDU. Morrisville and Durham are completely covered. Chapel Hill and points westward have a legit snowstorm-- roads totally covered and plows out. Come back home after 2.5 hours and it's still bone fucking dry. Not a flake. This is the worst bust I've ever experienced in Raleigh-- moved here in 2012. I'm legit done tracking storms after this, what's the point? 2 days ago 3 days ago the most reliable models were showing 6" minimum for MBY every single run. Now its 18:00 and there's not a single flake. The day before the seemingly amazing system hits, the dry slot starts getting progged. I tried to be optimistic but nope. In Raleigh, it's always something. Usually temp/mixing or moisture/QPF. This time neither was a problem. Oh cool you're excited cause of that? Fuck you, random dry slot it up all day long. I hate being a weenie and I hate loving snow. This fucking sucks.

I'm used to missing to the east followed by missing to the west. Missing in both directions at the same time is extra special. But no worries, I hear the radar is filling in.

 

Maybe overnight, we'll quadruple our totals.

 

Btw, what's 4 times 0?

All I can say is NWS RAH blew this one royally. I don’t know why they stuck to their guns when 24-36 hours of model runs showed this was going to be a screw zone with minimal accumulation. We all crossed our fingers and hoped they were seeing something we weren’t, but nope, they just straight up shit the bed.

Besides some consolation flakes in Cary we got screwed. I’m with you, I’m done after this!!!

Clown maps...I have a dusting...clown map or not...I have a fing dusting. My screen name lives. Thank God I am smart enough to travel to beech mt on a regular basis...because southern wake county SUCKS ASS

Crazy as it sounds, my area of Winder, GA just set a new record snowfall for a 24 hour period, with 4.6” officially today. That was in only 10 hours though. The previous record was 4.0” on 1901! I had to look it up because that sounded so low, but sure enough, it’s in the books. I will say this area hardly ever, I mean once every 20+ years, sees snow higher than 1-3”. Today we broke a record!

I hurt for other people on this one. If it weren’t for those clown totals so close to the storm, I don’t think it would be as bad a sting. I don’t even have a cute emote or gif for this one.

Man this is getting annoying… this is the cliff diving thread and everywhere else immediately around us is getting 6” and up and I barely have enough to blow off the car

That’s not what this is about. It’s the fact that we were in the bullseye on every model for 3 straight days and less than 3 days out from go time, to end up with less than 99% of the entire state. I’m glad people all around are getting an incredible storm but when it flips like that last minute and you’re left out, it calls for this sort of reaction.

The problem is you believed it. We all got fcked a week ago. We all should have expected getting shafted again. I'm sorry it happened to you. Lots of people got screwed. It's winter in the south. Tough to accurately predict where the snow will set up.

Glad u got snow. We are in NC...we should not have to suck it up...but for some reason we do the last 8 years. It was never that way!! Lol..buy I am cool with it.

That would explain why so many were so skeptical of the severity of the dry slot showing up on the short range models.

Yeah, I said this in the other thread - what is going on right now on the coast is what I would expect. Because unless this thing is getting punted East, what is taking place is what *should* be taking place. The storm is sitting. Its exploding. And the radar is back filling nicely. I hope this continues for you all.
