7.3 - our cove has a sheet of ice on the water. Wild to see considering just how scorching the water was this summer.

My little cheap indoor-outdoor system which always seems to read high showed 7 degrees this morning.   Most nearby stations were 6 degrees or less.  Saw one at -1 degrees right close to the river.

Coldest morning I'd say since 2014 unless I'm forgetting some other time.

I bought a ambient station back in 2020. Best investment ever for MBY. 

Upgraded to in 2024 to a newer model. 

The price point for Ambient is not steep.

Anybody get the feeling we’re going to get a pasting before winter is over? We seem to be headed for a thaw but if we can get some cold air back on this side of the globe at the end of Feb, I think we might. Been a long time since we’ve had a 5:1.

Cold air isn't going to be a problem.  We'll get a little thaw then back to Cold. This spring isn't going to be pretty.

I'm not sure what to make of this Wednesday evening - Thursday morning event. The GFS is printing out crazy totals for the Hickory area now. Cold chasing moisture doesn't ever seem to work out here, so I'm not really expecting anything, but it's hard to ignore what the models are showing.

Someone is getting a quick thumping tomorrow night, no doubt about it. Every model seems in agreement, while every model also disagrees on placement of said thumping.
