Took the thruway from Kingston around 9pm tonight and got treated to an awesome light show to the south.

Had a gusty storm blast through here just before 1am, KMGJ gusted to 40mph.

I've always done better working in the lawn later in the season, less competition from weeds and birds eating the seed. Just have to hope to get some rain too and not a dry spell in September.

Yeah ive tried to in the past too just didnt do it the last few years. I dont need it looking perfect, i dont care too much about weeds and dandelions and stuff, i just dont want bare patches and shit growth.

Have you ever aerated it? That can do wonders.

Agreed! As a teenager I would mow our small front lawn. It was green, neat and nearly 100% crabgrass. The mowed weed seemed to have more lasting power In adverse conditions. As always …..

I don't know what kind of storm came through here last night, but it had to be windy as hell. My driving range golf mat got picked up off the ground and blown into my yard. I've been in this house 4 years and it's never moved. Danbury airport gusted to 40 it looks like but it had to be higher than that here, we've had plenty of 40-50 here and like I said, that mat has never moved.

I slept through whatever happened last night. Garden was wet again and the potatoes and garlic are doing well. Hopefully early next week is the last below freezing and I can get more food plants out. Re: the front lawn; if it's green as they drive by @20 mph I'm good with it. I mow often enough, haven't fertilized or watered it in 30 years but I do "harvest" the seeds from the unmowed backyard and spread them, but that's the extent of the maintenance.
