Late snowfall isn’t the same for me as in the heart of winter, it still can be beautiful but it doesn’t stick around long and we get more mud this time of year. Down to 5” at the stake, been losing about an inch a day the past few days. Its more context specific for me. If we've had a good snow year and I'm satisfied then, sure, I don't need more snow just to pad the stats. But if its march 1st and we havent had much prior thereto, I want all the snow I can get.

Neck and neck between you and Central Park. Badhow just that north central portion of the county was scrooed so far. Even the northwest sections I believe are all in the 50's @snywx . Lets see what we can squeak out tomorrow. As long as it doesn't mess with my flight out of Newark tomorrow afternoon. Looks like we @Juliancoltonpicked a good week to leave. No fears of much winter weather to be missed the 3-10 period.

Snywx is just under 52", a 6-7" difference in annual totals is common between his location and mine. My elevation is only around 400' and being in the Wallkill River valley has its own impacts. What will always sting me a bit about this winter is only getting 6.6" of snow in February.
IrishRob17 Posted yesterday at 05:22 PM Author Share Posted yesterday at 05:22 PM Just looking at my meteorological winter stats, this year has my lowest highest temp of 56. The next lowest high temp was 58 in 2014-2015. This season also has my lowest warmest minimum temp of 33.

Some of these seem pretty far off, on the plus and minus side. @The 4 Seasonsmaps blow this away.

I've thought about it sometimes but clearly never joined, you ever think about it? I know you are really passionate about snowfall records. Are you from Manhattan orignally? @The 4 Seasonsmaps are the best I've seen.

It also only lets you do 90 days max so you can't include november and when we get into late march and want to include that, you'll be missing a lot of december 1

No not a city boy, it's fine for some, but I could never live there, or any city for that matter. I grew up in Rockland but as an adult I've lived my entire life in Orange County. The first five years in New Windsor and the last 30+ in Highland Mills. I never did think of joining. Other than snowfall, days of snow cover and first freezes, first hard freeze, last freeze, sub zero days, I don't really track daily, highs and lows or even rainfall. wishcast_hater
All the schools up here are closed today. I really enjoyed this winter with the solid snow cover from December to March. First half was great with all the clippers and then the big snow in January. I really wish we had another big snow on top of that one just for the experience. I got about 10” from the blizzard which obviously was nothing compared to Westchester and the coast. I’m going to miss the snow and wouldn’t mind winter to continue until April. To me today is a nice cold and snowy day with snow on the trees and shrubs. Very picturesque. .
gravitylover
Nice and picturesque? More like miserable and dreary with a cool snowy blast. 3 hours now of 30° drizzle kinda sux. 2 blockbuster storms, plenty of "real" cold and snowcover for almost 3 months made it a pretty damned good winter. I'm done with it
