John1122
Looks like a few inches around 3000 feet and up on Cross Mountain. Ended up at 31 here this morning but barely had half an inch. Just too little moisture here. I actually think the angle caused some downsloping off Cross Mountain.
Carvers Gap
It is interesting that we had a cold week last week....exactly mirror to last year. On social media, an icy trail showed up from last year on this date.
GBOVolz
A little late but we had a nice sleet/grapple shower about midnight last night up here at our cabin in PF. Our place has a tin roof, so i thought WW3 had started. .
dwagner88
Normally I would have posted something in here over the course of winter. It's just been so boring. Nothing exciting. No real heavy precipitation events, severe drought, only mediocre cold. Zero snow. Need a pattern shakeup.
Holston_River_Rambler
Pretty sure I just had a sleet/ rain mix @John1122 I think it was one of those onset mix precip type deals that changes to rain.

Holston_River_Rambler
Getting some Lake effect flurries off of Watts Bar this AM. Wondering if anyone else upwind is seeing anything. Looks like something similar off of Cherokee aimed at West Kingsport

I've got some Watts Bar Lake effect snow here (posted in general obs) and a band from Cherokee aimed at KPT is showing up on satellite. I'll move this post later this AM. But thought more people would see it here.

Jed33
Looks like a batch of moisture is moving in now. Although I don’t know if it’s reaching the ground. Sure is showing up on radar though.
John1122
There was a few flurries at my house about 30 or 40 minutes ago. We don't have much snow left but it's ice and sleet in the layers too so it's not melting on these cold days. It would have been incredible to have gotten 10+ inches and had these temps after it. Windspeed
We are either going to tie or break our record low for KTRI by daybreak. Skies are clear, and I am at 0°F at my location. Showing 1°F at KTRI. The official record low for KTRI on February 2nd is exactly 0°F. With a clear sky and no wind, surely we can drop another degree or two at the airport.Edit: And we officially recorded a new record low for February 2nd. Currently -1°F at KTRI.Edit 2: Posted in the storm OBS thread, but will paste here for posterity. KTRI officially got down to -3°F at the airport, but my vehicle read -5°F at work in Bristol. Either way, an official new record low temperature for February 2nd. Fortunately, there's no wind, so there's no real difference in wind chill. Effective low of -12F in Honaker per WU, -13F on the Clinch river crossing and downtown Lebanon as well as -14 at Rosedale on Route 80 per vehicle thermometer. Weather Underground weather stations indicates isolated lows in Shady Valley and Tazewell, VA reaching -17 and -18 respectively as well as readings of -15 in proximity to Johnson City on the lower valley floor. Temperature inversion was severe with the car thermometer moving through fahrenheit degrees on the basis of 25 feet of elevation gain in some cases. Weather stations also reveal areas that never saw negative temps in some high and exposed areas.
