Heading out soon to do first shovel and measure

At least it's very light and pushable. I use one of those push shovels that are used in hockey to clear the ice.

North of city definitely doing better than us south of city so far.

That one heavy band they got earlier just sat over them for a while. I think it was 2 to 3 inch an hour rates while it lasted.

Sucks that they don't take snowfall obs at the airport so we can't get the coveted "SNINCR 1/X" remarks in the METAR.

Here's one from the latest METAR at YNG:

METAR KYNG 251251Z 09011KT 1/2SM SN FZFG VV010 M12/M14 A3008 RMK AO2 PRESFR SLP212 SNINCR 1/3 P0006 T11221144 RVRNO $

What does that mean?  I'm not familiar.

"Snow increasing rapidly" with the amount of snow fallen over the last hour (1"+ only) and the amount now on the ground. PIT's official snow measurements are taken at the NWS office, so I've never seen that remark added.

Seeing reports of 8” already near Butler airport. Crazy how that early band gave some places to the north a boost. Have to think there is more of that to come.

Doesn't surprise me. They have been getting crushed.

Good morning everybody. Gonna have to go out and shovel looks like we are doing well so far.

Heavy band now city to north and one near airport. Most North of city I think have exceeded so far. Hope south gets some of those heavy bands soon.

From the 7am update that's 1.7 inches in and hour and a half, so more than 1"/hr rates.
