Ripping here pretty good, got in the snow squalls. Measured about 1.25" to 1.5" here. Closer to 1.25" though.

These squalls mean business. Combined with the wind and flash freeze roads are bad. Big wreck inbound on the highland park bridge. It was basically a sheet of ice.

Looks like this is back building again. I missed out most of the afternoon squalls. Hope these ramp up and head due east or go just south of me.

Fri/Sat has trended much colder and now the NAM has us with severe icing. Still long ways to go for that s to play out, but something to watch.

Some thunder possible tomorrow evening, not expected to be severe with MUCAPE below 500 J/kg. Although I do wonder if some small hail might be possible with any stronger cells, especially in the warm sector.

...Eastern Great Lakes to the Mid Atlantic... A secondary trough on the eastern periphery of the ridge will intensify as it moves out of the Great Lakes and into the Northeastern US late Friday into early Saturday. A modest surface low and low-level warm advection will allow for weak elevated destabilization and isolated storms over parts of eastern MI and OH, into the central Appalachians Friday evening. Buoyancy will become increasingly scant farther east into the Mid Atlantic. While a few storms remain possible into early Saturday, peak MUCAPE below 500 J/kg suggests severe potential is very low.

Seeing a light glaze on some elevated surfaces, even though air temperatures are slight above freezing. Driveway just seems wet.

I'm at 39° so all rain and wet here. Since we're not getting any snow out of this one, it would be cool to get some thunder with it anyway. Lol

Gotta wait until the cold front goes through on Monday hopefully kicking off some decent squalls again. Next week looks snow showery then something bigger could be in the mix around 5th thru 8th or so. EPS has pretty strong signal this far out. Something to track.

Big warmup out there. Car thermometer was reading up to 50 on the hills, but still 43 in narrow valleys.

Major storm bust for those in the east. WAA wins out again. NAM nailed the warm layers and most discounted it. Expected heavy snow but snow turned into sleet and freezing rain fest.

I have a friend that lives in Northern New Jersey. They were calling for 6 to 9 inches initially. They dropped it down to 2 to 5, as of now, and they have yet to see any snow. Just a lot of mixed precip so far.

The SPC has expanded the Day 3 marginal risk for severe weather to include portions of the Pittsburgh region. Something to keep an eye out for on Sunday.

Looks like we could have a trackable clipper for New Year's then looks to be potential for a bigger storm from around 5th through 12th.

Things look to start getting interesting again as we head into the new year. 

January shaping up with blocking and some hints of stj too. Much better looking than what models were showing a week ago. Hope it holds.

Otherwise will be watching tomorrow for any snow bands.

Looks like someone can pick up anywhere from an inch to 4 if they get in the right bands over next 2 days. Maybe slightly more in Cranberry and Butler Co.. 12z NAM suite is not as generous as the HRRR. A spotty inch or 2.

I’m under a WWA for 2-6 from 1pm today-1pm tomorrow…..
