Yup...me too. I went through a direct hit from a tornado in North Texas when I was 6. I went through the eyewall of Hugo in Sumter, SC when I was 9. Neither one traumatized me like Helene. I'm rebuilding a house on the Nolichucky next to a memorial for an entire family.

I hope we never experience anything like Helene again.

I've been here a long time and we've regularly dealt with tropical storm systems. Helene is and hopefully will always be the outlier. I can think back to Bill, Frances, Ivan, Arlene, Dennis, Fred, etc, and never do I remember waking up to such flooding and devastation before the system makes landfall in the Gulf. That's the one image that will always stand out to me with Helene, is the sheer amount of flooding we were already dealing with. Just an unfathomable set of circumstances.

I had a high today of 68 after a low of 46. We're getting a lot of clouds throughout the day which surprised me. Lots of hay fields being cut around the area. I see some of the models are showing a possibility of another strong front in about 8 to 10 days.

Had a high of 70 degrees yesterday and for the 3rd time in a row this week a low of 45 degrees again.

Im looking at the end of the month into the first of October for a big cold blast.  The teleconnections look to be in the right spot for possibly something big. PNA will go very positive around and after the 15th. The NAO and AO will be negative..I know it early season but the PV will continue to be in a weakened state. Also yes we will warm up a bit but I don't see any record heat in sight.
