My overnight low was 73.6.  Now, at 10:15am the temperature has skyrocketed nearly 20 degrees and is up to 91.9.  Dew point a smidge higher than yesterday, currently reading 76.8.  I guess I was one of the lucky ones to escape the 80+ dew points with a max yesterday of 76.  Oh, yeah, my heat index is 103.  And to think, just 5 short months ago I dropped to 10 below with 4 consecutive nights below zero!

I had this through last night. Let’s say I don’t get above 100 today - I was -7 in January. A 107 degree difference is quite extreme for a location.

For our location yes, that is very extreme.

I lived in Nebraska for a few years.  Talk about extremes.  Easily -10s in winter and 105F to 110F in summer.

For sure.  Generally speaking, the more land-locked you are, the greater the seasonality.  I remember one of the first days of a Meteo class I took at PSU the professor saying something to the effect of "Miami has never hit 100 and never gone below freezing, while Bismark, ND has hit [insert insanely high and low values].  That my friends, is seasonality. Large bodies of water work wonders for moderation."

Key West's coolest nights are often in the 60s while their hottest days typically reach the upper 80s annually.

A really nice one day reprieve...forecast highs for Friday are being adjusted wayyyyy down. CTP going for mid 70s over here now.

Tell me about it. Has thrown a real wrench into my monthly prediction I made yesterday haha. Should have known the mainstream forecasts hadn’t yet fully caught on to the backdoor cold front idea. Rats.

MDT hit 99 many times so the record should be set.

Well careful now, recall that they do the converting back’n’forth between Celsius and Fahrenheit and then round, which can lead to some misleading readings. There are many times when the five minute observations show a certain temp but when the actual high is divulged on the six hour intervals it doesn’t reach to that extreme. Happens in both the hot and cold directions. The readings at 56 past the hour are the actual METAR observations that are accurate. I was schooled on all this by some poster a while back, who was kind of rude about it ha. Forget his name. In any case, we’ll found out for sure at the 7:56pm update. I do agree we probably hit 99. I’ve said too much. Carry on.
