You want the small flakes if you don’t want it to turn over..Really big ones will mean it’s getting close to turn over most likely

Yeah that’s the thing. In this scenario rather have smaller flakes but means not so good rates

These rates remind me of the big storm we had last winter that dumped 12''+

Changeover is definitely in progress now. More of a fine mix almost small sleet now 295/shortpump prob 2 to 2.5,inches currently

Yep. I can hear the pinging outside the window. Not even gonna get out of bed to see what’s going on. At least you got some accumulation! I checked the 511 cam near Brandermill just to get an idea and it looks paltry.

Yeah, I would guess plows hard to get it all.  Anybody know what the peak snow measurement was before changeover?  Maybe 2” like others, was hoping for more.

HR crew, over to freezing rain yet?  Everybody have power?

Just drove from east end to west end and roads are in bad shape

I run a convenience store and the plow people that are coming in for coffee and stuff are saying the roads are the worst they've seen. It's gotta be because of the extreme cold and the salt and stuff are just not gonna do the job..., and it's January 25 if it was February 25 it might be different

Of course I wanted a foot of snow, but I'm trying to appreciate the relative rarity of the sleet bomb.

I'd prefer no heavy accretion of ice, but there's one silver lining.  The snow was so dry that the trees are holding little or no snow for the ice to build on.  Heavy wet snow followed by ice would be far more likely to break more trees.  That is not the case so far today.
