There’s always that one tree that wants to get the party started before the others.

Today had a definite fall vibe for temperature, wind, and lowering sun angle.  Afternoon temperatures were near 40F at 6k feet on MWN, 50F at 4K feet on Mansfield, and mid-60s in the mountain valleys.

To be honest I’m not ready to jump fully into autumn; next week’s heat and summer temps will be welcomed.

Yeah, and compressional warming as usual with NW flow down into the low lands in SNE.  Short-lived but -10F on the max temp (66F) despite full sunshine was still noticeable here.  Saw ORH hit 73F on the same normal of 76F as up here.  So only -3F.  Not very noteworthy down there.

Pretty cool that MWN was coding snow this AM (not GS or IP)... yeah, late August -SHSN certainly isn't out of the realm of possibilities but it's also a respectable airmass.  Didn't seem to dig as much into the southern regional zones.

Not sure what the “standard sauce” is

In the old climate eh hm ..between the 15th of august and the end of the month we normally clean house with one of these and plumb the 40s at night.  If the shoe fits.

Sep this is 60s. Oct this is upper 40s.

That said … the old paradigms are vanquished … or more and more, seems to be.

18z GFS went warmer again by total synoptic manifold.

Just heard that this was the first August since 1986 that Central Park failed a 90 degree reading. It would be a muse if Sep went the other way

Global warming cancel!!!!!

I kid, of course, but that is no more idiotic than attributing every single anomaly to GW. (Not speaking at you...just to you).

Widespread two-foot+ water during Met Summer across the region... up here:

June... 5.26"

July... 14.41"

August... 8.38"

Total... 28.05"

4th wettest JJA, close to 2nd but way short of the 23.76" in 2009.  Pattern was opposite of yours.

June:      7.89"   +2.77"

July:       3.85"    -0.16"

August:  6.53"   +2.50"

Total:    18.27"   +5.11"

August numbers:

Avg max:   71.06   -3.82   Highest, 79 on the 10th
Avg min:    53.68  +0.60  Lowest, 42 on the 2nd
Mean:        62.37   -1.61
The average diurnal range of 17.39 is the lowest of 26 Augusts.  This month joins January and June for that distinction, and March missed by only 0.3°.

Precip:  6.53"   Wettest day, 3.42" on the 8th.

Pretty impressive but gotta think it’s a bit fraudulent because of the whole vegetation around the ASOS there.   NYC would usually be 3-5 degrees cooler than LGA on days after rains years ago. Not sure if that’s still the case
