That’s been the case all along with Covid. The vast majority ( I think>95%) of hospitalizations have co-morbidities.

Agreed, but that's likely the stronger reason for the Provencetown peeps vs the vax/novax variable.

And/or "morbidly" obese, per BMI tables...which i suppose could be lumped in with comorbidities.  Not a lot of discussion about that in the PC MSM for fear of body shaming people.  Which i get...but that's what the data shows.  Instead the media focus on low % outcomes and Fear Porn regarding C-19. It's a joke.

The MSM and chattering class have lost almost all cred since HeWhoShallNotBeNamed arrived on the scene.  It's not good as it has opened Pandoras Box for all sorts of garbage outlets to attain some level of credibility amongst some (both L and R politically), as Establishment Media have largely abandoned their "impartial" role as the 4th Estate (free and open media)...to the wildly unreliable 5th Estate (social media, non-traditional reportage, etc).

I won't even mention the absolute farce that so-called Big Tech media's censorship has become.  Anyone interested in that, go subscribe to Matt Taibbi and/or Glen Greenwald over on Substack. I do.  Some of the best stuff out there.

I find it disturbing that New York City is requiring proof of vaccination soon to enter buildings and that the mayor is doing this as a tactic to force citizens to be vaccinated.

As I've said before, the vaccination hasn't even been APPROVED yet! These back-handed ways and tactics of our current administration to take freedoms away are maddening. "Hand me your papers!"

I am absolutely disgusted with the manipulation and using of Covid to enhance political propaganda.

So much CRAP being thrown around, you don't know what to believe anymore...other than when things are being forced and driven over and over and over again...it makes one take pause and try and figure out what is actually going on.

All I know is I'm seeing a crap load of death certs with people in their 50s/60s from heart attacks and most have received the vaccine. I'm definitely not getting a booster shot. The $100 to get vaccine, the advertisements everywhere, the political agenda. I don't like it one bit. If you think politicians really care about you as a human being, you're fooling yourself. They care about money and power.

Yep, and still refusing to resign. Of course the media circus turns it into an us vs. them thing... no, this is not a matter of Republican vs. Democrat. It's about integrity. Where are the democrats that "should be" screaming for "women's rights" for these women?

Bingo. You have to choose what you logically believe is best for you and your family... at least while you still have that freedom. One can make choices for him/herself while also being thoughtful to others. Unfortunately, in a selfish world, you can try and force others to think about the "greater good"...but that never works out. We have history that reveals that.

What ever happened to my body, my choice? They use it for one agenda, but deny it in another.

Playing devils advocate here, but in this case "your body" can affect my body so it's not quite as simple as the usual my body my choice.

Cuomo: "First, I want you to know directly from me that I never touched anyone inappropriately or made inappropriate sexual advances. I am 63 years old. I have lived my entire adult life in public view. That is just not who I am, and that's not who I have ever been."

So, I guess if somebody is 63 years old and has lived in the public spotlight their entire adult life, it means they would never do such things behind closed doors?

Oh, come on, Cuomo. You've been caught. Hopefully this is just the start of cleaning out all the crooked, no-integrity politicians we have on all sides of the aisle. I know it would be tough to find replacements that aren't guilty of these things (which is so sad) but our leaders should be people of utmost character.

Epstein should have just said that he was 66 and that wasnt who he was then all would have been well and Hillary wouldnt have had to suicide him. :pepsi:

Yea but if you protect your body with the vaccine then were good right?

Yes, in theory.  But if half the pop never gets vaxed and this things smolders for years the variants will certainly beat all the vax's.   You should never vax your way out of a pandemic unless you know that nearly the entire world will be all in and do it very quickly (within months).  If we knew that half the world wouldn't take it we shouldn't have started down this road.  The vax would have worked if we could have applied it consistently and quickly around the globe.

I think there is probably a good chunk of the population similar to me that is just waiting and being cautious about the vaccine. I really am not against getting it...but I'm hesitant about putting something in my body that is supposed to help my body fight something that we still don't even understand how it and the variants work. If the vaccine is helping people to survive and not get sick, then great and I am happy for them. But not all human bodies and immune systems respond the same way to factors. (Sorry, I know you know this...you're a science guy.)

I am not really a crowds guy anyways...so avoiding people and the "nightlife" isn't hard for me at all...lol. So, I will continue to try and respect others' space and wait it out. I also am not going to hide in a cave either. All in moderation...and consideration.

All that to say... I could see many more getting vaccinated once more answers and results come to light.

There is a new variant every other week and with every new variant the vaccines are weaker and weaker against as would make sense with an evolving virus. To eradicate the virus with vaccines as delta mentioned it would take an enormous almost impossible effort. To vaccinate 5-6 billion people within a few months. By this time next year I bet our initial vaccines are 10-15% effective.

Good points. So, we continue to try and hold off the inevitable with vaccines? Natural immunity the answer?

My wife got ticked at me the other day when I mentioned this being an example of the earth nearing its human carrying capacity - A natural way of stabilizing the human population.  I don't mean for that to come across as lacking compassion.

(Conspiracy theory: The Chinese are all about Human Population Control....)

This has been my point from the  beginning. Because in the meantime while we chase an impossible goal were building a debt and supply chain bubble that will have to burst at some point.

Completely agree, and I tried using the flu at the beginning as an example of that. Between mutations and non adopters that strategy was doomed from the start. If this were significantly deadly I think we would have seen a different result. Watch how quickly people get vaccinated if something like Ebola becomes airborne.

I wonder if Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul's covid strategy will be any different when she's sworn in.

Thats why I want Cuomo to stay. He's compromised and unlikely to do anything major to piss off people further.   Hochul will probably have us all in WW I gas masks, for our own safety of course.

The entire "blame the non-vaxxed" argument is another sign of our collective malfeasance. The Delta variant is now being blamed on the "unvaxxed" by the usual suspects, mainly from the Left and the Public Health community...and parroted by the MSM, who need fake crises to generate revenue.  It's a stupid argument that serves as red meat for people of low intellect (read: hyper political types).

The Delta variant emerged from India. There was never any chance of vaccinating enough of the globe fast enough (or achieving natural immunity) to prevent variants.  By all accounts, Delta is more transmissible but jury is out on mortality. Frankly, for a virus with a 99.8% chance of survival amongst the general population, this all seems utterly absurd.

It's extremely contagious but less deadly. Can you imagine if the bird flu/ebola was as contagious as covid. That is the real pandemic that is coming sometime in the future.

"The Delta variant is more transmissible than the viruses that cause MERS, SARS, Ebola, the common cold, the seasonal flu and smallpox, and it is as contagious as chickenpox"

I guess some of these BSL-4 Labs might want to rethink ongoing or planned investigations of virus functionality.  Not optimistic on that.  Society has a long history of proceeding with new technology without fully understanding or appreciating the risks. And yes, there is more than smoke surrounding the NIH's historical funding gain-of-function research, specifically with bat-borne Corona viruses.   This was well documented public information before it became another political wedge issue.

At least we got a good test run on what to do and not to do. If a virus as deadly as Ebola was contracted as easily as covid was I wouldn't be leaving my house.

Agreed. The initial R values for C-19 looked scary coupled with unknown mortality.  Fortunately, it's turned out to be manageable.  An Ebola variant...we'd all be living out the stuff of SciFi movies.   I still suspect some bad actors are working on bioweapons like that.  Hell, we may be also.

Here's a must read that I had as a kid: https://www.thriftbooks.com/w/the-hot-zone_richard---preston/246440/item/3863750/?gclid=CjwKCAjw9aiIBhA1EiwAJ_GTSvDIM_h6dnrR-W5WAc16YjAXxiNuUeScXFmCEit-oFbRPLzaRAFZfBoC63MQAvD_BwE#idiq=3863750&edition=2382604

None of us coming out of our house during that.

Did you see Covid wasn't found in any genome sequence of animals, the first to ever have that happen? Makes me think it really was from a lab.
