Annapolis Derecho 2016.  ENH is the new MOD.

 

As much as I know your post was joking I do think having ENH be a category now will make it tougher to get a mod risk from here on out. SPC I feel like is more likely to stick an ENH on it since they have an entirely new category.

I'm not joking, I like it.  It reserves the MOD/HIGH risk days for when it's truly needed, especially in the denser population centers.

* SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF  

DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA  

DELAWARE  

MARYLAND  

SOUTHERN NEW JERSEY  

SOUTHEAST PENNSYLVANIA  

VIRGINIA  

FAR EASTERN WEST VIRGINIA  

COASTAL WATERS  

 

* EFFECTIVE THIS TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 105 PM UNTIL  

900 PM EDT.  

 

* PRIMARY THREATS INCLUDE...  

SCATTERED DAMAGING WIND GUSTS TO 70 MPH LIKELY  

ISOLATED VERY LARGE HAIL EVENTS TO 2.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER  

POSSIBLE  

A TORNADO OR TWO POSSIBLE  

 

SUMMARY...SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTINUE TO INCREASE IN COVERAGE  

AND INTENSITY THROUGH THE AFTERNOON...INCLUDING THE POSSIBILITY OF

I'm on Alert Montgomery today, so that won't happen.  We don't automate our wx alerts.

 

Glad to hear that. There's been a few times over the last year or two that I can remember getting a text from the system even though it was like 1/1000th of the county included. Though I guess today could be safe since eventually the county is bound to be warned ;)
