Total 2014-15 snowfall amounts with normals and departures for NWS eastern region

Decided to start my first topic rather than put this in banter. I believe that this will make a good conversation thread by itself!

I always thought Asheville averaged more seasonal snowfall than that.

I'm sure Pack is happy about another banner year for the Mid-Atlantic.

I find it peculiar that Danville, VA averages less than Raleigh and close to half of Greensboro, though.

Cool, an above avg year. Now the snow crows will have nothing to complain about. Oh wait...

James,

I had thought the same thing when I first saw this table. However, I rechecked and now realize the 9.2" through 3/21 seems about right for Asheville. Through April, it is ~10" I think.

That is surprising that GSP averages more snow than clt.

Maybe it is related somewhat to GSP being 300 feet higher than CLT.

What's sobering is how poorly SC and Eastern NC fared. Virtually the entire east coast to our North was above average, and here, we had to string together 3 paltry events, one week in Feb, to see anything at all. Aaaarrrrgggghhhh!!!!

Hmm, I always assumed our average was 14-16" here but I guess that was before snow drought...

it is if you count oct, nov, and Dec.

Franklin,

I still get only ~10" for Asheville including all of Oct-Apr by looking at normals for the official station.
