If it comes down to it do you have a good shelter to head to? I mean you could also just drive out of the way if it comes down to it

 

Yeah I have a shelter. People should be heading to the schools community shelters as well. I wish they would have issued the watch sooner because they don't open them up until there is a watch issued.

They should have had ample warning since this afternoon. The SGF office has been hitting the event pretty hard in the internal chat which EMs monitor.

Yeah but they don't open them until a watch is issued or there is a warning. Community volunteers.

The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a Tornado Warning for: Southern Barton County in Southwest Missouri. Northern Jasper County in Southwest Missouri.

  • Until 8:30 pm CDT.
  • At 8:04 pm CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located 10 miles northwest of Jasper, and moving east at 40 mph. Hazard, tornado and golf ball size hail. Source, radar indicated rotation. Impact: flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter. Mobile Homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely.
  • Locations impacted include: Avilla, Boston, Carytown, Dudenville, Golden City, Jasper. Kenoma, Lamar Heights, Lamar, Maple Grove, Nashville and Oakton. This warning also includes Prairie State Park.
