I see 2-3" from today-Saturday... Not much more....originally I thought a decent threat next Thursday but not sure now...

Definitely looks like several light snow events coming through over the next couple of days. Not much qpf modeled currently, but probably wouldn't take much to get a couple inches out of the parade. Looks like by mid week next week we will be below normal for awhile temp wise.

Otherwise, while the cold will settle in, we may need to wait another week for some jucier systems to show up on modeling. Intially the trough access looks to steer systems to far east for our area if anything bigger did pop, but with the lack of blocking it would come down to the strength of any given system vs the confluence from the PV to determine just how far west it could go.

Even with the past warm week the surface temps are still cold. The snow that is falling is laying on concrete, thats crazy to me.

You dropped below freezing yesterday at around 9, stayed below all day then fell into the teens. Surface ground temps don't stay that high.

Also, this is example #342,349,564,886,432,242,250,401,142 showing why ground temps, while a factor, are often overrated here at AmWx.

When I walked across the yard this morning to get in the car ithe ground was already half frozen again, so no surprise the snow accumulated. Sun came out a bit later and melted it away but thats another matter. :)

Looking at the HRR this disturbance will come through around 5-6 pm range this evening with a burst of 1-2 inches in a quick short of time. Will have to watch as it will be rush hour. It kind of looks like a line of thundershowers that would come through in the Spring. In fact SPC has us in a 10% chance of thunderstorms late afternoon. It could be interesting. Thoughts?

This thing is moisture starved but quite vigorous.

New update from NWS Pit Discussion

.NEAR TERM /THROUGH TONIGHT/...

MADE SOME CHANGES TO THE FORECAST FOR THIS AFTERNOON TO INCLUDE
THE POTENTIAL FOR BRIEF PERIODS OF MODERATE SNOW SHOWERS ASSOCIATED
WITH A CONVECTIVE BAND CURRENTLY MOVING INTO CENTRAL OHIO. LATEST
ROAD SENSORS SHOW ROAD TEMPS SEVERAL DEGREES ABOVE FREEZING...BUT
WILL STILL SEE SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ON THE ROADS DURING PERIODS OF
MORE MODERATE SNOW...ESPECIALLY THOSE THAT ARE UNTREATED. SEVERAL
LIGHTNING STRIKES WERE EVEN OBSERVED AS THE BAND WAS OVER NORTHERN
KENTUCKY WHERE ONE TO TWO INCHES WERE REPORTED.

WITH THE TIMING OF MODERATE SNOW SHOWERS...THE MAIN IMPACT WILL
BE ON THE AFTERNOON COMMUTE...OVER EASTERN OHIO ZONES BY EARLY
THIS AFTERNOON...INTERSTATE 79 AND THE PITTSBURGH METRO AREA FROM
APPROXIMATELY 300PM TO 500PM...AND FURTHER EAST BY LATE AFTERNOON.
PORTIONS OF INTERSTATE 80 AND THE PA TURNPIKE MAY SEE BRIEF
PERIODS OF MODERATE SNOW AND REDUCED VISIBILITIES BETWEEN 300PM
AND 600PM IN GENERAL.

SNOW TOTALS FOR THE AFTERNOON WERE BUMPED UP SLIGHTLY...BUT STILL NO
SIGNIFICANT ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED GIVEN HOW FAST THIS FEATURE
IS MOVING. MOST AREAS ARE STILL EXPECTED TO SEE AN INCH OR LESS IN
GENERAL...BUT THERE MAY BE SOME ISOLATED AREAS THAT MAY SEE
APPROXIMATELY 2 INCHES.

This is why we can't rule anything out over the next several days. Although this won't be a prolific snow maker, if some folks get a heavy squall of snow and some thunder and lightening thats still going to be pretty interesting to watch unfold. Of course it hasn't happened yet, but any of these vorts that come pinwheeling through could spin up a suprise if you keep expectations within reason.
