I noticed that after this last storm that I am up to 74.93" on the year. I know that my stats don't count so I looked into some co-op data. Through October! Bakersville - 70.26" Burlington - 69.92" Norfolk - 68.95" mby - 67.89", I had 3.78" in Nov and 3.26" so far in Dec So Bakersville and Burlington co-ops are probably very close to the record right now. If someone knows where the November co-op stats are post them. Will be glad to see 1955 go cause that was a fairly dry year outside of the ridiculous August and October rains. 2011 was mostly wall to wall water. Does this mean we now live in a rainforest? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rain_forest Obviously we don't, but the rain/precip. has been relentless this year. I'm up over 65" at my house.... Bakersville report seems to be awfully low at 2.02", might be a typo in there. Burlington observations are like 2 miles or less from me so they will have ~3" more. This made me look at the TAN ASOS over here and it looks like they ended up with a little more than 52" on the year. Just an incredible year in CT for extremes. Just an incredible year in CT for extremes. A good chunk of the area is between 55-65". Certainly wet all across SNE, but CT and western mass have been soaked. Irene was a big part of that too. Just an incredible year in CT for extremes. Just finished up the 2011 review at WFO BOX, and talk about extremes!! We had 60.08 inches of precip for 2011 here. Here you go: RERBDL RECORD EVENT REPORT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE TAUNTON MA 535 PM EST SUN JAN 1 2012 ...YEARLY RAINFALL RECORD SET AT WINDSOR LOCKS... THE 2011 RAINFALL TOTAL AT BRADLEY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT IN WINDSOR LOCKS WAS 69.23 INCHES. THE NORMAL YEARLY RAINFALL IS 45.85 INCHES BASED ON THE 1981 TO 2010 NORMALS. THE 2011 TOTAL SETS A RECORD FOR YEARLY RAINFALL FOR THE HARTFORD AREA. THE PREVIOUS RECORD WAS 65.35 INCHES SET IN 2008. THREE VERY RAINY MONTHS HELPED TO ESTABLISH THIS RECORD. THE NINTH WETTEST JUNE OCCURRED WITH 6.75 INCHES...FOLLOWED BY THE SECOND WETTEST AUGUST AT 11.67 INCHES...THEN 9.65 INCHES OF RAIN FELL IN SEPTEMBER FOR THE FIFTH WETTEST ON RECORD. Considering that the wettest annual locations in North America located in the boreal rain forests of the British Columbia NW average between 10 to 15 feet of rain, having SNE locales registering 50-80" (roughly 1/2 to 2/3rds that amount) is nothing short of staggering. Considering that - if those numbers are correct - they've exceeded 60" so often since 2005 is interesting. Makes one wonder about the other states.
