  1. A few small but picturesque cells firing on the boundary draped across the valley
  2. Yep was basically mid July at Chesterfield Gorge except with more water. Perfecto after the back edge of the clouds moved out around 1.
  3. I don't necessarily mind the heat, but overcast, humid, and no breeze is pretty much the worst.
  4. Another narrow line of storms presumably associated with the fropa dropping south now. Let's get this garbage airmass out of here.
  5. Is Stein aware of his following here? Because I can imagine him naively making an account one day and it would just be a total mindf**k
  6. The drought in 65-66 was no joke in these parts. Quabbin set the low bar for water levels way beyond anything we've seen. A couple years ago it got to the lowest level since 66, but wasn't close to that.
  7. Spent last week in Dallas during record May heat... 94/50 type stuff with a steady 20mph wind... this is already worse
  8. Does an SPC 5% TOR contour no longer send your laptop airborne for a special sounding? Now check out our individual members....
  9. DFW hit 97 today, broke the record by 3 degrees. Breeze kicking up nicely in Ft Worth at present and it's quite lovely really
  10. Lovely night in the valley. Screen porch ftw
  11. Strengthening has been pretty slow in DFW. Maybe by the time it gets up to N Collin county you might have to keep an eye on it however.
  12. The Ghost Ship fire in Oakland was another one. 2016
  13. Crop damage actually is the worst with smaller hail that shreds foliage. The supersized hail tends to be more sparse. Might squash a few watermelons but likely not cause wholesale destruction. Also only occurs in narrow areas of supercells with maximized updrafts. But yeah the damage to cars and roofs and windows is horrific. Large hail costs dwarf tornado costs in big cities like Dallas.
  14. I am pretty sure since 2013 there have been no more than 3 events with legit 5" hail reports in North Central TX, one of which was this year in Salado. 2016 in Rowlett. And possibly June 2018, though I doubt it. And not sure I ever saw hail that big in OK from 04 to 2011. Truly a rare event...
  15. Yeah, I was wondering if you ventured out. Guess you did, that's hardcore. I heard also that the water at gate 8 was barely 40 and even the warm spots at gate 31 were still upper 40s. Not really an ideal start.
  16. It's been a very normal April in the valley. Frost most days. The CP and the hilltops have been a lot warmer relative to long term averages.
  17. I'm not here to defend drunk drivers, but I do think the actual roadway behavior is actually more important than the reasoning behind it. If you get caught sober doing 110 and weaving in and out of traffic you'll be in far less trouble than a guy doing 35 to the right with a taillight out who had a few cocktails. The former is far more worthy of punishment... but yes the latter is also worthy of punishment.
  18. I think impatience plus anger is the worst offender of all... folks passing in no passing lanes nearly causing head on collisions... likely dead sober... If there were a good reason to implement caning that would be it IMO. Give me the cautious drunk over the wound up douchebag behind the wheel every single time.
