  1. trying to decide whether to head back out to Central Park (after walking around there from 630-930) now that I've had breakfast or wait a while. Snow is still coming down pretty good here, what are the odds it's still like this around noon?
  2. just came here to post something similar. After the lack of snow this winter, there's been not much discussion bout the mood flakes we've had in the city since early this morning. Sure, boring compared to a big storm, but still quite nice.
  3. with that analysis I feel it's a good time to take a weenie nap. Gonna be a long night
  4. and the storm isn't over yet, or (checking outside) hasn't even started. The remnants of Ida weren't projected to cause record flooding; if it's one thing I've learned the past couple of years is that these storms lately are rarely what we expect. Good or bad.
  5. on the bright side at least we have the temps in place and aren't stressing bout the rain/snow line.
  6. still some nice snow coming down here in the UWS. Central Park has a nice cover base, which, if you're walking there be careful. I busted ass since I couldn't see the ice under the snow.
  7. this pretty much is guaranteed to be a nowcast.
  8. still baffles me that people take every run for gospel with something 48+ hours away.
  9. just want to give a reminder from 2 days before the 1/23/2016 storm
  10. I remember doing last minute Christmas shopping that day and sweating my *** off
  11. thanks, that's what I thought as well. But on the websites for ABC7 and NBC4, they both have that 4.47'' total listed for Central Park. I guess the question was more rhetorical as in, where are they getting this number ... AND I just looked again, they were only reporting up until 8:30am yesterday so that explains it. Sorry for confusion, it's early and more coffee is needed.
  12. am I missing something here? How can Central Park have totals of 4.47'' as of today, yet 4.45'' fell on Saturday alone?
  13. nice big fat flakes in upper west side. starting to accumulate (well, cover the grass in Central Park)
  14. every. single. year. it's comical to watch the meltdowns turn to jubilation (and back) with each run. but, here we are. Waiting for the next run, no less
  15. Good idea. I always have my camera, but will buy a yardstick tomorrow. I tend to walk up near where the NOAA station is near Belvedere castle so I'll take some measurements near there and down near the Sheep Meadow
  16. me too. I told my friends, I'm like an 8 year old with this stuff. I'm catching up on sleep now since I full intend to be out at Central Park for the duration. Luckily only 2 blocks away so I can come home, rejuvenate, then head back out
  17. my thoughts, too. It was just coincidental timing.
  18. anyone else sneezing/coughing/sore-ish throat today? I'm not sure if the wildfire smoke is irritating me or just regular allergies
