  1. I missed a lot of posts but I was wondering if you consider your location as representative of global temperature trends?
  2. Unfortunately, the way things are progressing climate wise, Whitehorse may be experiencing our summer temps in the not to distant future.
  3. This high heat/humidity is absolutely disgusting. Although people in the southeast have to be amused at some of our posts. This would be a normal summer for them. Why people move down there is beyond me.
  4. Something has changed in the last 5-10 years regarding modeled changes in the increase in hurricane intensity although they are still good at forecasting track. This seems especially true once storms are in the gulf. I am a total novice in respect to tropical systems and the physics involved but I think forecasters need to increasingly use intuition/experience and not just models. As an aside, kudos to 40/70 (Ray) for saying yesterday or the day before that he felt the models were too far south at land fall. Looks at this point he was correct.
  5. Right now 78/77. This air is by far the worst I have felt in a long time. I feel bad for those with outside jobs in these conditions.
  6. Got 0.52" last evening. Looking at some of the reports around my area where some locations reported well over an inch from the isolated cells, I can appreciate the problem the NWS has including forcast rainfall amounts in the summer, when thunderstorms are the the likely source of rain.
  7. Your AC is probably fine. Just suffer with the rest of NYC during this ridiculous heatwave.
  8. I am sick of all the rain we have had in the last few years. I am hoping this is not the new normal due to warmer average temperatures with concurrent atmospheric moisture holding capacity.. When we moved into our house in 1993 we had the big snow and then the next year or two (?) we had a drought which necessitated a deepening of our well. Although at the time I thought the situation sucked I sort of wish my area could return to those hot, dry summers with winters of normal seasonal snowfalls.
  9. Where do you find these tables on the Mt.Holly site? I look at the 'text products' but they show the snowfall data as it comes in. I haven't been able to locate a table as shown above.
  10. updating a post I made earlier. I said I got 6.5 inches. well I found out my son had cleared the deck railing earlier in the morning. I took a measurement on my driveway and found I got 12". More in line with other observations in this part of Hunterdon county.
  11. Heavy snow. Total so far 5.25". Had 2.75 inches between 7and 9 am.
  12. I don't care what others have said about this winter so far. I know you guys/gals in New England expect a lot more snow but so far, down here in central NJ I have had more snow to date (4.5") than in the last couple of years. It's nice to see a covering of snow for a week even though it will be gone shortly. It's been a while. As is usually the case here, February is the month for snow. If the snows occurs during the day I will really enjoy it. Also, I hope we have a run of Nino winters where there are more potential coastals to track. By the way the New England forum is the best forum (followed by the Mid Atlantic) for learning about synoptics. I only wish Tip would explain the weather in terms I could understand. Lol
  13. This may have already been posted, but if not it's an interesting read. It's about a more efficient snow making technique. ` https://news.yahoo.com/lifestyle/artificial-snowmaking-technology-could-offer-070017305.html
  14. Does Mt.Holly have a site where they post snow totals in their forecast area? I haven't seen anything from this past event.
  15. Underplay? I would say just the opposite.
