  1. Downtown Frederick doesn’t get too much more snow than DC due to it being in a valley and I think averages a little less than the Clarksburg area. Catoctins fare better, though. In general, we just haven’t had the right pattern, maybe in some ways related to the drought conditions the last couple summers.
  2. I’m not the one who should answer, but the questions are interesting and I’m waiting on sushi rn. For #2 I think that’s where ai/ml would add value (since it should be based more so on what usually occurs instead of what should) and definitely agree on #3 regarding the euro. It just seems like an all around dominant model.
  3. Finally got out to quasi measure…might have weaseled our way to 3” here overnight.
  4. Sure is a lot of blocking up top...not much southern stream influence, though? Looks like a congrats, southern crew.
  5. Latest spotter reports… https://www.weather.gov/lwx/pnsmap?type=snow Looks like the Gfs and Nam were generally overdone north of dc. Looking at a few runs leading up to the event, the euro and Canadian kept the 0.5” precip line closer to dc. Not sure of final qpf here, but I imagine it was closer to 0.3” than 0.5”.
  6. Back into light/steady here…little more misty out.
  7. Yea, I think the 70 crew might stay in the light stuff for an extended period. Roads are going to be a mess in the morning.
  8. We might get a couple more inches simply through consistency. Nam keeps some precip around in the northern tier into the morning...tbd on that, but could end up stat padding the totals a bit.
  9. One thing I noticed that Frederick does well is finding a way to get at least a slice of most storms that are either too far north or south. Light snow continues...streets are caving. Delayed and mostly denied...but not completely.
  10. Dude, it might have been 0.8” tbh lol
  11. Definitely slick af out, even here. I was doing the shuffle. Need proper shoes rn
  12. I just measured an inch lol
  13. It’s got my area right so far, I can tell you that much. Maybe the next round can spruce up the numbers
  14. Seems accurate so far north of dc, no?
  15. That’s surprising tho it does seem like the yellow bands have it a wall around dc.
  16. Exactly what I was about to report. Measured up to an inch in several spots and roads and sidewalks are a mix of slushy and a dusting.
  17. Quite possibly the most important storm of the season
  18. Yea, it’s unfortunately a total bust up here so far. Just looked outside…hardly snowing…may wait on my stroll lol
  19. If the nam h5 map is correct then Frederick should get in on better rates in a couple hrs. Gonna take a stroll now and investigate what’s going on.
  20. Nah, no two snows are alike lol. This storm is weak sauce for our area. I had a hunch this would be the outcome. At this point, if I get 2-3” I’ll be pretty surprised. Something in the overall pattern is just not favoring the normal distribution of snowfall…it’s actually getting kinda weird.
  21. Yea, it's a cosmetic event up here. Light snow and wet roads. This one ain't ours, that's for sure.
  22. Automobile hoods, lawns, and patio chairs are caving to the current flizzard in Frederick, MD.
  23. Late next week might be the next one worthy of tracking investment.
  24. Just pixie dust here, though I would classify it as steady. Can still see the Catoctin's, but visibility is lowering.
