  1. And OT, but it's becoming more inhabited every year with bigger apartment/condo buildings going up, literally on a big sand dune. It's becoming the Pompano Beach of NY. It's nuts.
  2. 3 basements on my former street in Long Beach badly flooded. Sump pumps going gangbusters. Some flooded out cars too. It was a nightmare there this afternoon. Kids were waiting to be picked up from school in knee high water. When the drainage system goes bust there which I saw a few times especially in Aug 2011, the city floods pretty fast. Unfortunately some of the same places flooded in the December torch to freeze nor'easter.
  3. Final totals not done yet and Suffolk still heavy rain, but this was definitely Ida for southern Nassau-some places in the 5 towns/Atlantic Beach must've gotten over 8". Widespread 5"+ elsewhere in S Nassau. I probably have 4-5", that was some of the most intense rain I've seen in quite some time. Long Beach was a "chaotic disaster" this afternoon according to my mom who had to drive in it.
  4. Was still moderate a few minutes ago here despite the radar having it very light. Radar estimates 4” here but I’m probably a good bit over. Street that’s downhill from me is flooded pretty good.
  5. Watching News 12, Atlantic Beach looks like a disaster. Probably 18”+ water on the main road. Wind really picking up again and still pouring, thankfully looks like the worst is about done here.
  6. The HREF mean was a little low if anything, I think it was 5-6” in the heaviest area. The max was closer to correct where it had 10” amounts. I’m sure many in S Nassau will have 7-9” and JFK is over 8”. Rockaways look like the worst where radar estimates 10”. And this isn’t over-there won’t be heavy rain after the firehose passes but enough to maybe add 0.25” or so.
  7. HRRR did go too crazy yesterday but 8-9” is nothing to sneeze at. The models nailed the potential and general location of the greatest threat.
  8. It’s absolutely pouring here and I’m over 2” now per radar. Heavy rain goes back to around Westbury and it’s not moving fast. We won’t get what the city/Nassau got but we’re in for a rough couple hours.
  9. Yyyyep lol. I don’t think the water system was entirely fixed after Sandy either. That literally drove the sewage up through the pipes along with the 8 foot surge.
  10. This definitely has to be the south shore's Ida, since that area escaped the worst of it then. S Nassau just getting annihilated, and JFK with nearly 8" total.
