  1. No, but I totally get how it sounded that way I didn't start/buy any veg plants, mostly because spring and early summer have become super busy times for me plus travel plans. So being lower maintenance about the gardening.
  2. Cool concept. I don't think I have squirrel issues but have been plagued with similar behavior from raccoons. I think I posted about it last year...they will totally dig up containers...I found by accident that they really hate salvia and won't dig any pot that includes it. I'm talking about really fragrant type that smells sage-y/spicy, but only bc I haven't tried anything else. Maybe squirrels hate it too idk!
  3. Welp, it'll be the second year running growing no veg. BUT I have a table of annual flower seedlings ready to go for the pollinator patch. Lots of different zinnias (fave), tithonia (other fave), and cosmos. And plenty of basil - genovese, thai, and Persian, which I only discovered last year and is delicious! I always let some basil bloom and go to seed so I count it in the flowers too
  4. 3.00" per iweathernet 72 hour
  5. Dumping rain. Gonna have to rely on radar estimates for my final tally
  6. there are a bunch of swallows flying around my yard in the rain
  7. Are we still cautiously optimistic about a drier stretch Saturday afternoon? LWX AFD seems to like showers (more than guidance maybe on quick look) but worded more strongly in Aviation. Parsing every word, haha. Outdoor gigs both Sat and Sun hopefully Sun is cancelled.
  8. Seems so. My first sighting last year was May 3rd per site search. There's good vernal pool action around here (even in the current dryness) I suspect that's a factor.
  9. A few fireflies out tonight
  10. I white knuckled it home from Bethesda around the same time, 10-ish. Very glad no one was there when you got blown sideways. Scary at times! Worst moment for me was having to suddenly dodge a mattress (?) mangled mattress/thing (?) on 95. Likewise, thankfully I had room. Getting through the stretches of elevated highway around Balt/Ft. McH tunnel also was no bueno. The way down 4-5 pm was pretty chill but did drive through narrow line with lightning in it.
  11. I thought I was the only weirdo here who enjoys winter's darkness I appreciate spring and, eventually, long summer eves...but...I really need to acclimate to all the light! March being the worst of it. Always a bit out of sorts while everyone's woo-hooing about longer days Endless daylight? Edit: never experienced 20 hours of darkness IRL. But willing to give it a go.
  12. Hope everyone remembered to secure their unsecured objects.
  13. I have no problem with it. He's one of ours and has been starving like us. I probably shouldn't have posted just enjoyed catching up to the overall read and needed the chuckle
  14. For some reason I'm totally amused by the obs thread where the very welcome and legit notable dustings and coatings and single flakes occasionally punctuated by jayyy up in NY getting pummeled. This is not a gripe, totally supportive of anyone chasing it's just funny. Nada here.
  15. It's wonderful outside, actually a legit crisp winter night feel. 36 degrees, a great temp for a night walk. Most importantly, and I cannot emphasize this enough, light winds . Still not all the way recovered from covid but sooo good to be back to normalish.
  16. Ibuprofen seems to make the biggest dent....bit of cough suppressant in the first couple days.
  17. Slogging through my first (somehow) covid case. Fully vaxxed but still pretty steamrollered.
  18. I'm genuinely surprised this is the first time! Damn! I recognize/respect Liz from wxtwitter tho I'm not very active there atm. Good for her.
