  1. Yes! "Leave the leaves". If everyone would let at least a corner of their yard stay "messy", it would be so much better for fireflies (butterflies, moths...). We manicure and spray way too much to worship the lawn gods.
  2. I didn't notice anything here. Maybe too far south.
  3. 1.6" rain last night don't hate me
  4. Showers at last. High of 87
  5. Honeysuckle and multiflora rose blend around here says late spring/early summer to me...well more specifically and nerdily "Memorial Day weekend and the weeks around it". Cursed plants ofc 89/79 here at home by the bay, not as hot as most but got the soup
  6. Just over an inch of welcome rain this afternoon. Good thing I heavily watered the garden this morning lol.
  7. Intermittent light showers so far today not amounting to much. Did well yesterday with a little over an inch.
  8. I have been planting my entire pollinator buffet garden (annuals edition) between light showers. My seedlings a bit overdue but ok and these conditions are awesome.
  9. Close but nada. High 76, 73 now.
  10. Thanks so much for replying to me with these recs! Will check em out. Apologies for the late response.
  11. About a tenth. 50 degrees and starting to clear.
  12. AFD was amended for "pesky low clouds near northeastern MD through midday". It's been thick. Just got a glimpse of sun.
  13. 62. Socked in still.
  14. It's reached the point in leaf-out where the breeze sounds different. With the temps, very summery vibe.
  15. High of 86. Starting to acclimate to activity in the heat more now. I was feeling underpowered.
  16. 75 by the bay. The mesonet station a bit inland in Abingdon* at 81. *called Edgewood but firmly in Abingdon
  17. About 0.10" rain last night. Little too far south. High of 82. 68 now.
  18. Thanks for the tips! I'm looking at the association pathways map now. I had not grasped how much there is. Checking out these trails could keep me busy haha. First glance, the ones near the golf club(s) and Middle Patuxent Env Area look interesting...Patuxent Branch Trail does too. Def have to get to Centennial, I think that one's mandatory.
  19. Columbia area people: do you have any favorite local walking, hiking, maximizing nature/minimizing people spots? I've been spending a lot of time visiting my elderly dad there, and he walks and drives and does stuff, but most of the time he's indoors. There's not much of a yard and I need some go-to, close by spots to hike or chill outside for an hour or two when it's glorious out! Patapsco is great but a bit far. Over the winter I discovered paths in the immediate neighborhood and walked around some of Wilde Lake and Kittamaqundi. My folks moved to Columbia a long time ago from Balt. Co. but most of what I've done there is just go to their house and out to eat! Thanks for any recs.
