  1. Trees Glazing up quick down here. Got home fine.
  2. Confirming sleet and freezing rain now here at the Mt. Vernon Rec Center, temp 31. Fun Stuff!
  3. Doing something down here, at swim meet but my rain gauge detected something, rain rate says moderate and cameras are showing that it’s not fluffy flakes…maybe sleet is my guess or heavier freezing rain. Will know in about an hour.
  4. Man, y’all went to some dark places reminiscing about those that could have been. The good news is with the improvement of the models we don’t get left at the alter as much…we get much more warning that we are going to get screwed over now!
  5. I guess the angle of the cold worked out this time!
  6. First measurement at 7:15. .75” here in Fort Hunt, Va. temp 28.5. Flake size increasing.
  7. Light snow down here by Mount Vernon. Coating achieved!
  8. What you are seeing is the former Hoco/Westminister/Psu death band….now known as the Prince William/Springfield/Alexandria death band…at least for the last 4 years
  9. Seems we have seen this movie many times over the last few years with these weak systems. They seem to trend a bit north as we get closer. There isn’t a ton of upside, it’s not gonna magically juice up, best case is areas in the skunk zone get a coating and that 1-2 inch expands a bit. Will be interesting to see if this scenario plays out again this time. Maybe the models have been having trouble resolving the cold and dry air to the north at range, maybe a data sampling thing…maybe aliens.
  10. Yes! No, maybe, not! Depends on the angle of the cold! I just summed up the last day of this thread….your welcome.
  11. .37 last night .81 for November somethings gotta give soon…
  12. Guess it’s time to shut off the outside hose bibs, put the garden hoses away and 86 the remaining summer plants. I can dig out the snow shovels too if anyone wants me to totally jinx winter…let me know.
  13. BWI: 17.3” DCA: 15.1” IAD: 19.3” RIC: 7.6” SBY: 8.0”
  14. Anyone up for a chase to Bermuda? Couple of frames show it… 10, 13, 15….
  15. If only this was winter…could you imagine the JI meltdown where he gets 1.9” of snow and south and east gets 2’-3’…now that would be entertainment!
  16. .78” in the bucket so far
  17. Well in the long range thread they are talking about how it’s going to be another South and East winter given the ‘seasonal’ trend of the rain tomorrow and Wednesday….so there is that. Getting my snow shovel ready! Sorry about the leaky pipe!
  18. Shocked to find .68” in the bucket this morning after barely missing all the boomers yesterday. Also nice to go from 95.5 yesterday to 61 this am!
  19. Last October I had 32 minutes of rain which measured a whopping .06” of rain, by far the driest month I have ever recorded since 2020. This May by contrast, 2533 (most in terms of time since 2020) minutes of rain for 7.06” of rain. This August was similar to last October, second least minutes of rain with 112 minutes for .88”. That 112 minutes was pure luck, cashed in on small storms on two separate days in early August. Similarities for sure between October last year and august this year….my grass looks almost the same…a little less dead I guess this year, but still pretty dead!
  20. 0 for the last few days in the rain department. Today is halfway pleasant, lots of outflow boundaries keeping the air moving with towers blowing up around, but periods of blue sky and sun. Current temp 85.
  21. Nice wet downburst, nothing too severe, power still on. Most importantly temp down to 80 after a high of 99.9!
