It appears the spigot has been turned off. Mid to upper 90s for the foreseeable future. The question is, will someone reach 100? It’s doable next week.

Seems the forest preserves have them THICK. Been to two of them in two weeks, and heavily ambushed with cicadas, here in Champaign? Nothing. -
Sometimes I catch myself hating on Illinois, but days like today remind me this state has its own natural beauty. Visited another preserve today, nice to put the phone away and not answer work emails.

Full sun and seasonable temps for the next 7 days. Top tier stuff you can only dream of. took the tops off the jeep, my son and I are going for a long ride today.

when I was at Allerton Park in Monticello, literally 30 minutes from Champaign, they were landing on my shirt as we were walking. The sound was deafening as well.

Top shelf day. Spending the day with my son at Allerton park. What a banger. Also, cicada galore here and zero at home.

Beginning to wonder if a cooler than normal summer is in the works, no threat of any heat in the foreseeable future still. The pattern seems to be seasonal temps/wet and then cool down.

Was driving at 10mph. Drove in reverse for 1.5 miles. Unbelievable flooding rivaling April 2013.

Roads are becoming impassable throughout rural Champaign. Just had to drive in reverse with hazards on for 1.5 miles.

Flash flood warning prompted for 1-2” of rainfall with ongoing very heavy rain currently. Getting absolutely dumped on. EDIT:almost feels like some training occurring in southern Champaign county, another storm just blew up, with torrential rainfall occurring. What an afternoon to ring in your 35th birthday. rain gauge has 2.5” already

Extended looks fabulous. Should soar to the upper 80s today, something about that first taste of summer is just an amazing feeling.

Those are some beauties. I’ve decided to expand my vegetable garden this year to not only tomatoes and peppers, but Swiss chard, brussel sprouts, potatoes, and cukes. -
83 in the paign. A1 smashburgers on the blackstone tonight, with beers and bags with the neighborhood. looks like a cooler week ahead with multiple rain chances.

Nothing but 70s for highs and 50s for lows in extended. *chefs kiss*. Tomorrow and Wednesday look absolutely beautiful.

Planting my tomatoes today, got some heirlooms this year too, those are my favorite. EDIT: it’s crazy how fast summer sneaks up on you this time of year, last year by the end of May we were in the low to mid 90s, a mere 35 days from today.

Looks like one more frost/freeze potential Wednesday-Thursday, then it should be all systems go for planting season. Active pattern looks to be shaping up as well. ready for consistent warm weather, my son has grown an interest in hiking and camping, so lots of that on the agenda this summer.
