  1. NAM 18Z has a little something something for Tuesday night. Shifted a bit east from the 12Z as well. Not appearing on CMC or GFS as of yet though.
  2. Both CVS's near to me have self-checkouts. Sometimes you have to marvel at the people who would choose to stand in line when both self-checkouts are wide open; the only thing is, that if you're buying OTC meds that require an ID check, you still need to wait for an actual cashier to come over and verify that you're not Walter White. Which then totally defeats the purpose of self-checkouts.
  3. Dang. I kinda hope not, but for purely selfish reasons. This would mean my drive in to SNJ in the morning would be fine, but getting home would be a nightmare. Maybe I'll pack an overnight bag and stay down there Thursday night...
  4. First all the models show an absolute plastering of snow 7 days out, then they pull back some and we all lament. Then the models slowly regress back to semi-significant, plowable snow. Rinse and repeat, for as long as I've been a member. It's a roller coaster each and every time, and I for one choose to enjoy the ride with all of my anonymous weather friends. Even @RedSky.
  5. Scratch that. The center of low pressure is like, over Buffalo. It's like a reverse Nor'Easter.
  6. Dang plow came by and blocked the storm drain with snowcrete, so now the base of my driveway is about 3" deep with water and slush. There's no way I'm shifting all that, so I guess we'll have a lumpy skating rink for a couple of days. Winds have been around 10mph the entire day. I think I'm too far inland to really feel the wind that's supposed to come for our area.
  7. Have a glazing of ice on just under 2" of snow right now, and we're up to 29°F. I can hear precipitation hitting the ground, so there must be some frozen stuff mixed in there. Should go all rain soon though. This would have been one heck of a snow if it had all stayed cold aloft.
  8. Well dang. The last thing I need right now is my mother texting me about lightning at midnight and whether or not she should put the horses in. Wish they would retire already. Side note, I don't recall opening the lightning tracker website ever in January...
  9. Freezing rain sticking to the windows. Up to 27°F from a low of 21 earlier around 6pm.
  10. The electronic signs on 422 were warning no empty or double-hauler trucks on I-176 for this evening. According to my anemometer, it's been steadily increasing since about 5pm, blowing 10mph-ish with gusts in the 15mph range as of now.
  11. Almost forgot (well, technically DID forget) to put the cover back on the smoker so I just went out there and did that. Looks like a solid 1 to 1.5" here. Blowing around pretty well, too.
  12. I don't think they bothered to treat my neighborhood roads this time, I guess the thinking is that it should all wash away by the morning? All paved surfaces are completely covered.
  13. Sitting at 6°F here currently. I can relate; it'd be nice if that would take care of my gnat problem in my back yard.
  14. Swing-and-a-miss on this one, perhaps, but we've still got a good chunk of meteo winter to get through. Still a good system to track and observe; better than nothing. (where's my weenie tag ) Coldest it's been yet, and enjoying this at least.
  15. FWIW, GFS snow totals ticked east just a skosh on the 0Z run.
  16. I think we picked it as well, although at a lower resolution:
  17. That sucks. We majorly overproduced last Feb, was hoping those SE to me would catch up early this year. It's still 72 hours out though so don't give up just yet!
  18. Oh, I'm not going to waste any time model-hopping and hoping for huge dumps. This isn't going to be the blockbuster event of the winter for most of us (if any). But it's a good sign this early into January.
  19. WU calling for 6" of snow Sunday night. Interesting...
  20. This morning was brutal. However I was only mildly uncomfortable thanks to many layers (fleece thermals ftw!), but I still need to figure out something to warm my feet up. Thankfully the site I'm working at put in place a work cycle (similar to what we do in extreme heat) so I spent about half the time outside and half the time warming up in my car. This afternoon was more bearable at least. We got to a low of 14.7°F at my house this morning, and the dusting of snow was a nice little surprise.
  21. The cold's fine. It's the wind that sucks. But yeah, no cube, unless you count the sea-box we work out of as one.
  22. Same. Gonna put on the heavy Tyvek tomorrow at work. It's the only time of year where it's moderately comfortable. Especially since I'll be working on the waterfront: ...SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON EST TUESDAY... ...FREEZING SPRAY ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 10 AM EST TUESDAY... * WHAT...For the Small Craft Advisory, northwest winds 10 to 20 kt with gusts up to 30 kt and rough waters. For the Freezing Spray Advisory, moderate accumulation of freezing spray expected. * WHERE...Upper Delaware Bay.
  23. I'm sure glad to be a part of this place. Merge shmerge. Feel like we got a pretty good group of people here, for the most part.
