  1. Rained off and on all afternoon at the Ren Faire. The gust front and brief downpour rolled through around 1:30pm and then it was noticeably cooler the rest of the day, thank goodness. Now this is what it's supposed to feel like in the middle of October!
  2. This doesn't seem normal for almost midnight on the Ides of October. At least it's not 90% humidity!
  3. SPC says marginal: and WPC says the front will have moved through by 8pm with a mix of rain/t-storms behind it: Going to be an interesting day at the PA Ren Faire tomorrow... (forecast for Lebanon, PA):
  4. Found this neat website from a tweet by NWS Mt. Holly. Currently set to plot cloud cover at KPHL: https://mesonet.agron.iastate.edu/plotting/auto/?_wait=no&q=40&network=PA_ASOS&zstation=PHL&month=10&ptype=sky&year=2021&dpi=100&_fmt=png Super (and soupy!) dense fog here in Reading. Should burn off in the next couple of hours. With highs in the upper 70's to low 80's over the next few days we might have to run the A/C today and tomorrow, meh. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
  5. I think I had maybe two or three really pleasant days this spring where mowing my tiny-ass yard didn't end up in a sopping wet sweat-fest. (I actually recall thinking to myself at the time that I should enjoy that while it lasted lol!) At least we haven't had to run the A/C as much this month so far, but the humidity is making all my doors and windows stick. In other news, it's been 20 days since we've had significant rainfall, with 1.44" on September 23rd and a hardly worth mentioning .07" on October 4th. Hoping for something this weekend. At this rate, I'll be watering my plants until Thanksgiving. Will the clouds break tomorrow? 8-ball says "ask again later"...
  6. By my reckoning, this is day 9 of being either almost or completely socked in by clouds. Greytober continues...
  7. Got down to 55.9°F last night. I'm liking how Saturday is trending cooler on the forecasts--a couple of days ago it was progged to be low 80's, now it's looking like mid 70's and damp. Hopefully that'll keep the crowds down at the Ren faire this Saturday. Side note, it's like, aggressively grey out there this morning. I think I've seen the sun for a total of 30 minutes in the past week! (I'm one of those weirdos who's perfectly ok with that.)
  8. I don't know about everybody else, but it costs way less to heat my place than it does to cool it. And I, sir, look forward to kvetching about the cold.
  9. Just the barest hint of a sprinkle a little while ago while enjoying a backyard campfire. Didn't register in the gauge. Pretty pleasant out right now, our extended second summer notwithstanding.
  10. Pretty sure we had one or two a week ago, never seen them in October either. The gnats and mosquitos all came roaring back to life in my backyard though, nothing I've done has been as effective as consistently colder temps at keeping them at bay.
  11. I don't mind the extra warmth if it means earlier cold/snow, but does it have to be so dang humid???
  12. Spent 20 minutes mowing my front yard and I am drenched. This just ain't right.
  13. That about sums it up. On top of that, the freaking ICE CREAM TRUCK is making the rounds right now!!!
  14. Big booming thunder in the distance. Light rain showers. Has not cooled significantly since my last post.
  15. Went to the PA Ren Faire today. While there were an incredible amount of cars in the lot by the time we got there at 1pm, it didn't seem super-duper crowded, and wait times for food and drink weren't crazy long like I've seen it in the past. One thing on everyone's mind though was the warmth. It got up to the upper 70s by 2pm and stayed there until we left at 5:30. Off and on clouds, but barely a hint of a breeze most of the afternoon. It was the same story as the rest of our summer has been, with dewpoints in the upper 60's for most of the day.In October. Not completely unbearable (like the Kutztown Folk Festival in July usually is) but uncomfortable all the same. Felt sorry for all the folk in full garb, but we went in civvies this time with just our "Bavarian" fedoras as a nod to the faire's Oktoberfest theme. We are hoping it cools down somewhat for our next visit, towards the end of the month. Hopefully second summer will be over by then. This just needs to stop. It's after 7pm, in October, after the sun has set. Yuck.
  16. Loving this. My weather data for May is spotty but it looks like this is the lowest we've seen since early May.
  17. Be that as it may, this belongs in the banter thread. It poured over in Wyomissing, but we got the barest whiff of a shower, didn't even register in the gauge. Cooling down now though.
  18. Ehhhh. Maayyybe. I think whatever's forming will scoot by just to my SW. Might get a couple of drops, but that's ok with me. Looking forward, as always, to the cool down.
  19. Kinda muggy out here. Overcast with occasional slivers of sunlight. Only got .01" this morning and it doesn't look like we're getting any more, but we shall see if anything else develops.
  20. Don't get me wrong, I'm super-enjoying the more hospitable weather, but losing daylight earlier and earlier is putting a serious time crunch on all the outdoor projects I've been deferring all summer. Three nights in a row now I've worked outside until sunset building out a section of fence, finally finished tonight but couldn't really enjoy it because it got dark so early! Looking forward to posting some pics in the OT thread tomorrow. Back tot he news at hand: Forecast has possibility of morning T-storms. Might be interesting!
  21. My low last night was 46.9°F; the last time we hit below that was 46.2, also on June 23rd. It has been a minute.
  22. Fire me up. Can summer be over now, finally? Or is this just false fall?
  23. Looks like I ended up with 1.44" here. Currently a nice, cool 63°F with the occasional passing misting/shower.
