  1. Speaking of wildfires.... Long Island’s Pine Barrens are even more susceptible to drought, it’s become a yearly occurrence, while Jersey’s Pine Barrens are much larger and more susceptible to lightning, either way it’s a disaster waiting to happen. Pines are highly flammable, and the amount of dry brush, fallen trees, and other dead plant material in the understory makes it worse.
  2. I can see the very clearly defined edge of Hurricane Teddy looking east.
  3. It’s too early (for me) and it came out of nowhere.
  4. Later on I’ll fiddle with my weather radio to see if it gets a stronger connection from Manhattan or Riverhead (weak).
  5. Dipped down to 49 (today’s low) but now back at 50. High was 64.
  6. Did not fall into the 40’s last night, surprisingly. ISP hit 48, I hit 50. Yesterday both hit 49.
  7. Strange, but it matches the airport obs so yours is probably more accurate.
  8. 63/36 right now. High was 67, low was 49. Lowest dews since the first half of May, DP hit 33 today.
  9. 49 for the low this morning, currently 58. 51 degrees with a strong breeze at 4 AM felt like 25 degrees to my summer acclimated self. Too early for this.
  10. First time seeing blue skies in 5 days, the smoke appears to be largely gone.
  11. 53 this morning, a shock to the system. High of 79 yesterday, would’ve been in the 80’s if not for the smoke.
  12. Looked like that here a few hours ago, my initial thought was smoke, but since it was somewhat cloudy earlier I wasn’t sure. Sky here is blue right now though.
  13. Had some thunder and lightning this morning, not much though. 2.20” here.
  14. Ok that was arguably the heaviest rains I’ve ever driven, it stripped away the remaining RainX off the windshield, and there are literal lakes on the sides of the LIE, never seen that before. Had to launch through flood waters just to get home, no other route (because Suffolk...). 2.08” so far, highest daily total by far this year, but it’s the short time frame that makes it more notable.
  15. 0.29” so far here, no heavy rains yet, should reach here in 10-15 minutes. Under a Flash Flood Warning now.
  16. NYC, LI’s south shore, and the jersey shore are one of the warmest spots on the east coast right now north of the Outer Banks. Low of 61 here, currently 74. 83/59 yesterday.
  17. Almost identical here, 88/71 today, 80/68 yesterday.
  18. 85/67 here. I can take this all year round.
  19. Low of 58 here, first low in the 50’s since June 17th, which also had a low of 58.
