  1. 89/70 here. High of 91 so far. Again, unexpected. Twentieth 90 of the season.
  2. 82/70 today. 1.08” of rain. This month had a mean of 79.1 (87.7/70.4) here, and 5.86” of rain, the bulk of which fell at the very beginning of the month and at the tail end of the month, the rest was mostly dry. July had fifteen 90+ degree days in total, highest temp was 97 on the 27th, lowest was 63 on the 2nd. Highest low was 80 on the 28th, lowest high was 77 on the 7th. Warmest day was the 28th with a mean of 88 (96/80), coolest day was the 16th with a mean of 72 (78/66). Wettest day was the 1st with 1.69”.
  3. I saw lightning just above the tree tops, initially I thought it was something else as there isn’t a cloud in the sky.
  4. Oh sure, it *would* rain today, any other day the showers are a miss, but today I get not one, but two, and with only 0.02” to show for it. Any more conveniently placed showers and I’m gonna unplug my PWS. 85/80 here now. 6 hours to go.
  5. 90 here at the moment, I’ve been under cloud cover for the past hour or so, even had a few raindrops. High of 96, low of 80, if the rain stays away this should hold. Today’s mean is 87.7, beating out 7/21/19 (mean of 87.6) as the warmest day on record for my 2.5 year old PWS.
  6. 93/78/108 here. Looks like something’s trying to pop up to my immediate west. Don’t think it’s the sea breeze as it looks more convective.
  7. Ugh lol. As soon as I read this the sun started getting blocked out by it.
  8. I’m up to 96 now. I was expecting low 90’s today. I wish we had an official station closer to the LIE, or north of it. But FRG has been the EWR/LGA of LI lately.
  9. Same. Also a first for me outside of NYC. My last 80 degree low was Aug 2016 in Queens, it was a three day stretch of 80 degree lows if I remember correctly.
  10. That’s even more impressive to me. I’m actually watching the temp slowly creep upwards again.
  11. Still 84 here. Forecast says 78 tonight...UHI? I mean, obviously nothing on the scale of NYC and it’s immediate surroundings, but maybe? Long Island is fairly developed. High of 97, low of 71 today.
  12. Holding at 95/74 here, peaked at 97/77. I knew dews in the upper 60’s wouldn’t last.
  13. Do they monitor hourly obs for quality control purposes? Because I don’t see any other reason why 5 or 10 minute updates can’t be the norm. I know planes aren’t relying on data that’s 50+ minutes old.
  14. The sea breeze seems to have an immediate affect on the dew point while the temp responds a bit slower resulting in very high heat indices.
  15. My highest temp last summer was 98 (twice), in 2018 it was 99. On all three days the temperature was 96 at this time, same thing today and with much lower humidity. I’m thinking we hit 97-98.
  16. 96/70 (HI 102) here, highest temp of the summer so far.
  17. 93/70 (HI 99) here. Funny how a 70 degree dew point feels dry-ish to me now. Dews in the mid/upper 70’s have been the default for a while now.
